I recently started a game in adventure mode as a hearthperson. The first thing I do is ask the Lord for an order. He said to drive off a group that was skirmishing with my group. Their hamlet was right next to the town I started in. So I go there, kill the lady, and tell everyone I see that I killed her. I go back to my town, and tell the Lord about it. I check the agreements tab in my quest log, it says the order hasn't been completed. What am I doing wrong? Should I wait more? Was I not supposed to kill the lady?

I'm not sure if anyone has figured these out yet. I recall asking Toady about it at one point and he mentioned fist-fights I think?

So I should just start punching everyone in the mead hall?

Try it, can't hurt... well, I mean, it can hurt them, but they're your enemies anyways right?

Maybe what you need to do is murder someone in front of them all, and make them run away.

(Maybe bring a part of the corpse over? In Dwarf Mode, at least, there is a bug where seeing just a part of the corpse makes dwarves think they saw the death itself. Might apply to Adventure Mode as well, but I don't know; can't check when I have an active fortress.)

Nothing worked, except for one thing. I claimed the site for myself, killed the lady, became Lord, gave Lord to my companion, and the order was listed as completed. I reported this to my lord, and he said my service was undeniable, blah blah blah. I ask for an order, and he gives me the exact same order.

Try making this lord the lord of the other place?
Maybe he wanted it conquered.

Kill the leader, and his/her leutenants.
