Day 1 has begun.

Dawn breaks. You all file into the room at the hotel that the one who calls himself "L" has arranged for the meeting to take place. You look around the room, at the others attending the task force meeting. Somebody in this room is the enigmatic detective "L", and another is the murderous Kira.

Of course, you have no idea who is who. You're all going by code names here. The one known as "Kira" wants everyone else in the room dead, and the rest of you want to find him.

7 of us, only one is Kira. This should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Everyone has a role, there's a confirmed cop in this set up. Probably everyone has some kind of power and town outnumber . Let's use this day for basic grilling and engagement testing, but let's not lynch straight away.

"Why?!" I hear you anxiously cry.

At base there's a cop and a kira. So if we lynch now, assuming a kill and an investigation a night:

D1 end - 6 players
D2 end - 4 players, max 1 investigated by L
D3 beginning -  LYLO 3 players max 2 investigated by L

If we no lynch today:

D1 end - 7 players no lynch
D2 end - 5 players, max 1 investigated by L
D3 end - MYLO no lynch with 4 players, max 2 investigated by L
D4 beginning LYLO - 3 players max 3 investigated by L

Clearly, no lynching today and D3 will maximise our power to gain information, which will minimise the chance we'll make a mistake at LYLO.

I partially agree, a NL seems to makes sense here. However, I'm worried by the fact that the cop could die earlier than the end. Additionally, there's a good chance that at least some of the investigated players will die. I'll take a closer look tomorrow, but it currently appears that the cop has a chance of dying by Day 4 somewhere around 60% and only a 1/3 chance to find Kira by then.

Sure, that's why we want to maximise the number of days we have available so as to minimise the chance of killing L before he can investigate.

Not feeling well enough to complete a proper post, but here's a token gesture.

NQT Interesting no lynch theory. I've seen similar set-ups before, though, and a common attribute is that while the Kira player can only set up one death per night, he can delay the death for a later night. Also force the 'dead' player to post a specific phrase or vote a certain way, effectively a very powerful post restriction applying ability. I'm not sure if Taw has included that ability in Kira's arsenal this time, but if he did, how would that affect your no-lynch day-1?

TDS Do you have Netflix? If so, binge watch it now, I can assure you it can be done in <5 days. It won't affect your ability to post, I think. Er... I think. Actually, I'm not sure, if you binge it at full tilt it might.

Flabort, there may well be death note-specific weirdness. We should be aware of that, but we essentially still want to maximise the number of days for investigation in that case.

Wait.. What if this "takes place" during the part while Kira doesn't have his notebook, and he only gets it on n3 or something. He wouldn't be told by the GM that he was Kira until then, and also would show up on L's reports as innocent!

That'd be a neat twist, but we' d still have a killer and it'd still be in our interests to lynch Light Yagami.

Well, I'll do my best to find out what the twist is. Whatever it is, it benefits Kira and so it would be definitely in our favor to find out what it is.
