Grand Tomb Designs
« on: August 29, 2007, 04:26:00 pm »

Inspired by great living quarter designs, I am now looking into grand tomb desings. I remembered some time ago someone who posted the picture of his ankh tomb, and I've found it:
 :)

Edit: Oh and I forgot to add... His name is in the file name, but I'll say it nevertheless. The credit goes for herrbdog for this incredible tomb.  :)

Where is the coffin in that one?  It's beautiful!

I'm afraid I've never put too much work into tombs.  Perhaps I should start...

Magnificent though it may be, the morality rate to make it possible saddens me   :(

O_o

You mean mortality rate?

No offense intended, this was just too funny a typo to let slide.

I rarely build large tombs, although I have indulged in the odd catacombs.  Maybe I'll do one in my next fortress.

My next fortress will be when the next version hits, and I do indeed intend to build Catacombs in the Z levels underneath the fort proper.  So many ideas... I need the new version bad.

The rings at the front of my fort here are my tombs. The compass points are set aside for the higher up noble tombs and are still undecorated.

Orbinches = :)

You've got some serious slave-driver syndrome there Genuine.  I hope the booze is good because you work those little bearded buggers hard!

hey, maybe try not to make the rest of us look so bad, huh?  answer a question incorrectly to throw a bone to the kids on the other end of the bell curve?

if youre going to make a massive fortress of perfection and beauty, have the common decency to keep it to yourself?

seriously though, that fort is a massive thing of beauty.  i cant wait to see what you do with the next version.  though it may be a little harder sharing map images of multi-level forts.

I can't access maps at that site. Care to make a screenshot? It would also be way easier for me to work with real images if I ever port this to the wiki.

Genuine, that is fabulous, beautiful, symmetrical and balanced.  I am in awe.

Eagle, try installing Adobe Flash 9 to see the maps in the DFMA.  http://www.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Hey, you had a pretty decent fort yourself, puke, which provided a little inspiration in a couple of the designs in my fort.

Personally, I'm actually really sick of working on Orbinches by now. Trying to straighten out a fort that size with only 80 dwarves almost makes me want to cut myself. This is also ignoring the fact that the fort runs at a screaming 10 FPS and isn't looking to go faster anytime soon.

Anyways, here's a pic of one of the tombs if Eagle can't get DFMA working:

That's quite the point you know... I don't want to install Flash, or even use it... I could cope with JavaScript, but I just won't go for Flash.

If you're using Opera or Firefox as browser, then you could always make it so that flash is only turned on when visiting the map archives. That should rid you of the IE+Flash blinking madness of surfing.
