Oh god why do you guys even care this much, the lore isn't that consistent or logical to begin with.

(and yes I do say stuff like "oh god" even though I'm agnostic, it comes from being raised by vaguely non-religious Protestants)

It probably becomes more common as one loses belief as the stricture against naming the lord in vain loses it's hold

Personally I didn't grow up in a religious environment, but still use swears like "goddammit" and "Jesus rand_expletive() Christ" at least 3-12 times a day as atheist. At least here in the US, even the most god-fearing atheist picks up Christian aspects from an early age, and for society in general they're divorced from the religion itself.
