England was a peaceful nation before the Great War, while the United States and China fought an ever expanding war over limited oil resources the United Kingdom had turned to the development of alternate sources of power. A joint research program formed between Cambridge and AstraZera had begun to show success mere months before the Great War with the successful creation of a hyper efficient biofuel that when used in conjunction with electricity could replace fossil fuels. However, it seems that this peace was never meant to be.
Before the United Kingdom could announce this invention the Great War began. No one knows who fired the first nuke, if they do they certainly haven't come forward to tell the world, but it started a chain reaction of sorts as one country after another joined in firing their nuclear arsenals. These poor souls did so in the hopes of stopping those who would destroy them, or perhaps to get revenge against the ones they saw as causing their destruction. In the end the world was devastated and England was certainly no exception as bombs fell on London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Glasgow.
By the time the bombs stopped going off and people came out from hiding they found a nation in shambles. Within weeks what little remained of the British Government collapsed as the Royal Family took surviving members of Parliament, and went into hiding hoping to survive the worst of the chaos that was to come. The bombs claimed many lives, but the fallout from such widespread destruction took many more as radiation storms, and rapidly changing weather began to wear away at those who had yet to go into hiding in the less well-tread places of England.
From the day of the Great War until now it has been almost two hundred years since England was turned into a wasteland. In this span of time the nation our ancestors knew has changed completely as new powers came into play to via for the unclaimed nation that was left from the government collapse, and the creatures adapted to this new world the War had made. From the ashes of the United Kingdom three major powers have rose to fight each other for the right to rule England.
The Kingdom of Britannia was established amidst the ruins of London hoping to bring the United Kingdom under the monarchic rule of the British Royal Family once more. Valorous Knights have led ranks of disciplined soldiers to reclaim the land that belongs to the King, and restore the glory of the once great British Empire.
The Whig Party formed from a group of survivors at Bolton Castle, and their soldiers equipped with a seemingly endless supply of modern weaponry began to establish a meritocracy in the British Wasteland. However, before the might of the Kingdom and the northern invaders their power slowly dwindled until they watched over little more outside of their Castle.
However both factions seemed almost perfect when compared to the threat that came from the lands formerly known as Scotland. When the world began to recover from the Great War was when they came, men wielding axes and swords with their faces painted came down in hordes to conquer, and pillage in the name of Casticus the King of the Celts.
This is the history you know, the England you know. Perhaps you know more than some of the Old World, but what good does it do you? In the end even with this knowledge you ended up arriving here in what is now deemed Central England where those three great factions are looking to face off, and decide just who will become the future ruler of England. Sighing you think back to how you got here ...
How did you end up in Central England?
{A} You joined the Kingdom of Britannia's Infantry for the decent pay, and the promise of two meals a day. Unluckily enough you were dispatched to here along with the rest of the 1st Expedition to prepare for the coming war ...
{B} You are a member of the Whig Party, and you were fairly well off as you remained behind as a part of the Home Guard until news came back that Southern Branches were put to the torch by the Kingdom.
{C} You're one of many conscripted into the Celtic Hordes to serve King Casticus in the war against the southern folk. You know little about the days to come except that you will most likely see the worst of the war.
{D} You are little more than a wanderer who was forced to come here in the hopes of making a living here with the coming conflict. You've had little to rely on aside from yourself, your gun, and a little friend who never seems to leave your side.
