In, sheet will arrive in an hour and a half or so.

Name of Race: Fvothian Masses

Physical Description: The Fvothian Masses lie at the strange intersection between colonial beings and multicellular ones. Their outward appearance is that of a sponge with tiny eight legged creatures running across their surface, but this obscures a three part organism. At the center is the breeding node, or core, a small mass of rapidly dividing cells, and the only persistent diploid portion of the mass. Radiating out from it are female structural tissue, which form the mass which is seen from the outside. This female bulk is responsible for filtering out toxins are particulates from the air and processing it for nutrients. Additionally coming from the breeding node are short lived male scavengers. These eight legged animals are primarily responsible for finding those nutrients which may not be aerosolized in the environment. They are not properly cared for by the mass itself, and so lived only a day or so at most. These are also responsible for the exchange of genetic information between masses, by undergoing a diploidization process with the female structural material resulting in a new breeding node. Their rapid turnover time results in a greater genetic variety, in general, in the male aspects than the female, contributing to their role in producing genetic variation. This recombination process generally only occurs to establish a new mass or to respond to intense environmental pressures.

Unusual Traits:
  • Parasexual cycle - Individual members are haploid, form diploid organism briefly, exchange genes, and revert to haploid form.
  • Stress Induced Recombination - Only modification to this cycle is that diploid progenitor cells are actually central to the organization of the animal, and persist for extended periods of time, releasing nearly perfect clones of the organisms which fused to form the core. This core is only destroyed and recreated under periods of stress on the organism, leading to recombinant DNA which may give the organism a better chance at survival.
  • XØ Sexual Chromosomes - The X chromosome contains information which leads to the development of 'structural' female tissue, and the lack of this chromosome leads to the development of the 'colonial' male organisms.
  • Filter/Scavenger Feeding - The Fvothian Masses primarily feed themselves by collecting nutrients from the air. As a result they have become exceptionally good at oxidizing particulate matter which may be toxic to most other organisms, effectively cleaning the air.

Awesome, let's have another go at this! I'm really busy right now, but I'll see if I can fit it in; if I can't post for a little bit, I'll just blame the Perrorin's sleep/wake cycle :P

Name of Race: Perrorin
Physical Description: Humongous collections of buoyant gas-filled sacs that float wherever the wind blows them. Smaller creatures flock around them, creating living islands that drift among the stone ones. They mostly survive by absorbing and digesting the waste from the creatures that live on them. Somewhere among the flotation cells, a massive, ponderous brain is hidden; their consciousness seems to follow some strange, age-long cycle of sleep and wake. The Perrorin can release pheromones from surface pores, allowing them to influence the behaviours of the creatures that live near them by a limited degree.
Unusual Traits: Buoyancy, absorbing food through epidermis, strange sleep wake cycle, behaviour-influencing pheromones.
Location: Islands or Dense-Gas sea, depending on how much they are weighed down by the life living on them.

Giving waitlisted people the ability to murder non-responsive players was a great idea. Need to do that more often.

Damn. Sorry Inithis, already 17 submissions.

Got popular.

I might actually recommend a limit on how many people can join at once, with a waitlist for when species go extinct.

Took me longer than I'd thought it would, but I can tell you that Mad Max is a great movie and Rubber is a terrible one. My sheet is in my previous post, let me know if there are changes I should make.

All right. So, here's how this is going to work: I'll do a turn a day at minimum, and probably ten people in a turn. This will slow down the pace somewhat, but it will make sure nobody gets left out. To make this manageable, I'm going to ask, after I've given everyone their starting scenario, that they put the name of their race with their action. Otherwise, it takes me twice as long to figure out who did what.
