So it isn't just me who thinks we look like assholes, "Why thank you...."

"... Assholes" Nyar finishes under his breath. This isn't getting any better.

"I only know English, but who knows about my trusty assistant here he probably speaks Klingon or some shit."

Keep quiet for now, and zoom in on them. Look for any sort of cover around us, and be ready to use it. Tap the following in morse to Cabinboy: Defend if needed; moderate collateral damage acceptable

Whispers to 'cueball,' "What's wrong you seem kind of tense." Well if things go to shit, at least I can get in some action.

"Know any Shakespeare? I think we can get some guns off these guys." I could really use one of those.

If I can open a direct link to Nyar, "I do not trust this one bit, but I can't tell if these guys are serious or not. Plus, they have rifles."

"Well, I guess we'll have to try the old diplomatic approach."

Nyar turns back to resume conversation with the distant men. "So fine sirs, what brings you out here on such a... fine day?"

If I can open a direct link to Nyar, "I do not trust this one bit, but I can't tell if these guys are serious or not. Plus, they have rifles."

The radio works for that.

Nyar turns back to resume conversation with the distant men. "So fine sirs, what brings you out here on such a... fine day?"
"We are scouts from the lowland country. We heard reports of great noises from the heavens, and our officers sought to investigate."

The men get closer. You start to see their outlines. Their guns are relaxed, and only one of them actually has his hands on them, although it's unclear if some of the rifles are swinging because they were recently swung or because the men are walking.

"If you seek shelter, you are welcome to come with us. Our homeland is to the south, within the central shadowlands."

"I'd be honored to visit you're homeland." Hopefully they have more guns.

To Nyar: "I think we should cut the crap. We can spin some fancy tale, act like gods. I'm thinking Cabinboy is our idol and we're his escorts. Thoughts? They seem primitive."

Go along with whatever, for now.

"Suit yourself. I'll go check this out." Travel with men to their homeland. Primitive? You mean they have guns AND swords?

A sudden thought occurs. "Do you folks happen to know our position in magnetic right now, give or take? I spoke to someone not fifteen minutea ago, saying ambulances were nearby."

"Latitude 92°, longitude -137°, altitude 87 meters below sea level. Do you speak of General Hospital? The search-and-rescue teams are always vigilant for radio traffic. They may have had a translator who responded to you. Allow me to ask the radio operator."

Some seconds pass without further word from the radio operator.

"Yes, there is an outpost one kilometer from here to the west. You must have spoken to them. We can call for a pickup."

1621 GREENHEART TIME, MAY 21st, 301 P.L
ERROR: FAILED TO CONNECT TO INTERNET TIME SERVER.

Mark Johns'son (Pencil_Art):

The fish that you ate on the colony ship--supposedly similar to freshwater Earthfish even those haven't grown in Earth's tainted rivers since the 3000's--were soft and chewy, whereas these are hard and crunchy. Not that you put one in your mouth, of course. You step on it with your feet.

You hear footsteps behind you, but your HUD points out who it is. It's Nole, also wearing a suit. He must have tracked you using the built-in tracking system. He waves.
"What do you think?  Think they're any good to eat?  We could try catching some using one of the parachutes I pulled from the ship."

Arthur Staunch (Megggas):

You go south, where you discover a river about 200 meters below the crash site.
[5] You encounter one (1) helmeted Trooper, a familiar sight, this one carrying a netful of purple snakes on his back and wielding a makeshift spear, as well as a holstered pistol and a rifle slung over his shoulder. In his hand he holds a ceremonial sabre, which he points at you as if he was about to attack. But contrary to normal NPC behavior, this one speaks:

"Macrondas gin sabrei, valaenicht?"

He seems to be awaiting a response. ((This game has no text options--all dialogue is done manually))

Spoiler: Status,Traits,Invntory (click to show/hide)

Cueball (Paphi):

"Latitude 92°, longitude -137°, altitude 87 meters below sea level. Do you speak of General Hospital? The search-and-rescue teams are always vigilant for radio traffic. They may have had a translator who responded to you. Allow me to ask the radio operator."

Some seconds pass without further word from the radio operator.

"Yes, there is an outpost one kilometer from here to the west. You must have spoken to them. We can call for a pickup."

Nyar Donovon (WunderKatze):

[3] You hear the growl of an engine, but there is no indication as to the direction. That implies it's echoing diffusely throughout the region... or that the suit makers sucked at designing things.
"Do you have names?"

Nole (Slayer1557):

As it turns out, the suit is very good for tracking other people wearing suits linked to yours. However, you notice that the cursor clicked into a more accurate position once you approach close enough--to roughly within visual range.
This suggests that the suit can't track location perfectly at long distances. It would be useful to dismantle one just to figure out its limitations. After all, unknown information is a liability. There was a suit for each pod back on the shuttle.

Mark doesn't respond, so you go ahead and size up the situation:
-The green fish are less than a pound each. The red fish are almost weightless, almost like paper.
-The red fish have this bony arrow-like protrusion between their eyes. It makes for a good cutting edge.
-[4] The parachute takes only minor damage from the arrowfish' blades. It should hold a good batch of them so long as they don't lift you off the ground.

The battle overhead starts to wane. There are roughly 5kg of bodies piled up, although you are only going by feeling and not by any sort of objective measure.

CAB-iN-Boy 1000 (DigitalDemon):

((No action :C))

"A lift would be good. We're not injured, but a vehicle would make it much easier to get around. I am known as Cueball. I've contacted a fellow survivor of mine, and would like to seek him out."

I was not trained for this first contact crap...
