I helped make the art for a game, and it's now released :D
« on: September 09, 2015, 10:19:03 pm »

It may not be much, but it's a start, at least :D I made quite a few of the skins for the ship in the game, I was a bit rushed when making them, but nonetheless. I was thinking of helping my friend update the game with better graphics for, well, a lot of things, it will get better with time, as will my skills :D

Game link (It's for Android, but it's completely free with no microtransactions, only little ads that you can click off anyway :D) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.MiGames.rocket&hl=en

Hope you like it, may be simple, but hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere :D

I'll give it a quick go. You might want to call it something else though. There's already two other games called Asteroid Avoid on the playStore.

Game worked fine on a cheap little Huawei phone. Control seemed weird until I worked out that it was just tap on left side of screen to turn one way, right side of screen for the other, alternate between the two for straight.

Bugs:
There's no exit option on the main menu and the "back" button didn't work. Had to mainscreen and task-kill to close it.

Otherwise, seemed to work fine. Lasted 42 seconds and collected 2 gems. I'll get up to 10 to check that your skins work.

It is what it is, and as you say, you've got to start somewhere :)

Skins worked correctly. I bought the rainbow swirl one. Gems deducted correctly.

Exited/task-killed, re-opened app, still had skin available.

So other than the "no-exit" problem, it seems to be working as intended. It's rudimentary, but there is a game there. I lasted 52 seconds :)

Minor Bug: Got a battery warning beep on my phone. In-game sound ceased after this. Might just be my phone.

Possible bug: Might be a memory leak somewhere. Probably related to things not being de-allocated correctly because I'm task-killing it, not exiting normally.

Program takes 19.41mb on my phone after the 11mb install. Fairly big for a very simple game. What programming environment is it made in? Unity? Game Maker?  That'd explain the storage overhead if it was.

It was made in Game maker, and thank you for pointing these bugs out :D you can notify my good friend Martijn about them (He made the game) at martijntje7@gmail.com about them. And we'll be updating the every so often with some new stuff if it gets popular enough :D so be sure to tell your friends about, and thanks again for taking the time to try it out, man. It actually does go a long way :D
