Ah. Gameplay reasons. Though unless I'm mistaken, even with cartridges firearms still took very long to fire. Around every other turn in D&D turns. But then again a Heavy Crossbow is much cheaper to use in the long run without being that much less damaging so... Eh. I'm just shitposting at this point.

What classes has everyone decided to go with? I know that we have a ranger and barbarian, and possibly a monk, but I have no idea what anybody else wants to be. I was thinking of going with a Paladin, but I'm not too sure how well they'd gel with the setting.

Are feats and Unearthed Arcanas okay? Specifically the Waterborne Adventures one, with the Mariner Fighting Style.

Mariner:
As long as you are not wearing heavy armor or using a shield, you have a swimming speed and a climbing speed equal to your normal speed, and you gain a +1 bonus to AC.

Remember, as a paladin, you wouldn't get any of your magic, or class features that rely on magic. It'd be somewhat like a less-effective fighter.

Unearthed Arcana is fine, except psionics, obviously, but psionics is not fine in 5e anyway.

Yeah, I was almost certain that that would be a problem with Paladins but I wasn't entirely sure. The Church sorta sounded like it'd have divine magic stuff to me. Anyways, in that case I think I'll go for a Rogue/Assassin. Anarchism ho!

I was hoping for it being even more with me, but this is better than it not being there!

I have two concepts in mind, but it's getting too late to write them out tonight. One is a private-investigator-ish Rogue/Swashbuckler, and the other is a veteran-soldier-now-blacksmith-protecting-his-neighbourhood kind of guy Fighter (subclass not yet decided). I feel both have fairly good reasons to have been contacted by this Tannerson person visa vi investigating these "monsters".

Yes. Those are some good stats. Although they seem to suggest strength based character instead of dex. So maybe not monk... I think fighter makes the most sense with those stats. Heavy armor so you don't need dex and such. Or maybe just make a squishy character even squishier. I guess that wouldn't be too awful.
