Age = 17
Gender = Female.
Assigned Position = Deputy Chief Engineer
Aptitude = Computers, Engineering
Disadvantage = Clumsy, Wake-U-Stim addiction
Background = Ami was born in the home stretch of the Neo Kyoto's voyage, although nobody knew it was such until a month ago. From an early age she has had an aptitude for all things mechanical, along with a rather above average amount of intelligence. At age 10, she was fixing engine malfunctions faster than the 60 year old engineers that had worked on them their whole lives. Unfortunately, she has 2 left feet- figuratively that is- and tends to stay awake long periods working on various projects, when she should be sleeping, using stims to keep her going.
Age = 79
Gender = Crotchety Old Bastard (presumed male? no one is willing to try and find out anymore)
Assigned Position = Unemployable Resident Coot Consultant
Aptitude = Nobody, including the captain, knows more about the ship, and about stuff in general, than Old Mall. Some people think half the stuff he says is made up, and the other half no longer applies. They're half right; he does spout bullshit quite often, but when it's time to get something done, you can count on Tessex to tell you how and what to do, honest as could be. Sometimes too honest, if even he's stumped. He's been around long enough to get quite crafty, but the real reason he's managed to live this long is by being stubborn, and by being lucky. Life really is unfair when it favors the old and the crotchety.
Disadvantage = Tessex is old. He's very old, by shipboard standards, and what's more, he's not the type to make people sad if he had been put down. Worried, perhaps, but not sad. He's a part of life, like the faulty vendor at 5A.c or the way the third ladder, clockwise, in the engine room rattles every time a course correction is made. Was made, rather. They've set down, now, after all. Unfortunately, it's rarely a good idea to have him do something himself. Things may go his way in general, but put him in charge of fixing a fried circuitboard and somehow, somehow, something else will break in the process. Put him in charge of telling someone else how to and it'll be fine, though...
Background = Born comparatively early in the ship's journey, Tessex was alive when the last of the original men and women to fly up with the ship were euthanized. He was around for when a comet nearly smashed a hole in the ship, missing by about four meters. He's been around for running on eighty years now, which would be bad enough when most don't get to live past sixty. Add to that, the fact that the myth that he was born scowling isn't as far fetched as it sounds, and you get something that should never have happened. But...when he was little, he loved the ship. He still does. The insolent child explored every nook and cranny, ignored most of his lessons, yet learned from everyone around the ship while simultaneously infuriating them. Which is why, perhaps, he was considered Unemployable for a few years. Eventually, though, somehow, he became one of the teachers. A substitute, in fact, feared by any student who'd encountered the dreaded 'razortooth sub'. A grump Tessex may have been, and definitely still is, he nonetheless is capable enough of getting concepts across (somehow) and embedding them that he was able to fill in quite well, on occasion better than the teacher he was filling in for. He's never been afraid to ask someone how to do something he hasn't learned yet, listen intently, and then tell them they're wrong and oughta listen to their elders more. In fact, there are only three people he has ever been given to show respect to; his mother(dead), his friend Harrison Yukara, euthanized several years prior, and the Captain during an emergency. While many would love for him to finally kick the bucket, something always seems to go wrong when the time comes. And he was always smug about it. It was never proven that he did anything to prevent it, and it's about as likely that it's simply the universe's way of kicking sand in the crew's face, while Tessex is just enough of a bastard to feel like it was only right that it worked that way. Eventually, people just figured he'd kick the bucket at some point, and in the meantime, he was a living, swearing encyclopedia about the ship, history, and odd topics no one really knew.
Age = 26
Gender = Male
Assigned Position = EVA technician(trainee rank)
Aptitude(s) =
EVA whizz.
If Everett can do it normally, he can do it in an EVA rig. Some say that he is unable to do anything outside a rig as he is rairley seen outside of one.
Zero-G Combatant
Although everyone agrees that the utility of being able to fight in low gravity is nearly non-existent, that has not stopped a training program to be created for it. One that Everett has almost aced (he cant do hand-to-hand well).
Engineering Prodigy
Many engineers are good with their hands, able to create amazing things out of nothing but scrap and a few wires. Everett, on the other hand, can make almost anything, provided he has the time and parts, much to the determent of his co-workers gear.
Disadvantage(s) =
Loner
Everett cannot handle dealing with people. At all. As a result, he is one of the few people who have been trainees for years, as every time he has been promoted from trainee he has done something to get him busted back down. Like take parts from his superior's Rig to fix something on hisown.
Isomniac AND heavy sleeper
Everett is cursed with the twin hardships of not being able to get to sleep and then not being able to wake up from it. You can imagine what the result of that is.
Rig-Reliant
It is a common thing for those who work within Rigs, and particularly EVA Rigs, to become reliant on their systems various extents, from not being able to use normal computers, feeling blind without their rigs, and so on and so forth. For Everett, being without his Rig is like being without his arms and legs. Because of this, he has spent much of his time creating a semi-retractable Rig that can be worn with normal clothing, and can seal up for use in conditions as hazardous as normal suits.
Background = Everett came from a well-respected(atleast in the engineering departments) family of engineers rated, atleast with few exceptions, to go outside the ship on the rare occasions that something did go wrong on the exterior. In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, Everett was never able to relate with others, conform to many rules, or get a ranking beyond that of engineer, eighth class, and then only for a week or two. Infact, the only reasons why he has not been reeducated are that he is good at what he does, and that there is fear that his social ineptness is directly linked to his engineering powers. Being one of the few people rated for combat outside the ship and being able to get at weapons does not help either.
Authors note:
So, we have a loose cannon whos good with his hands and alright with a weapon, who cant sleep well, be woken, deal with anyone, or function without his suit.
Possibly a little OP... But then, you can just nerf Rigs to hell and make it so he cant get the parts to buff them.
Age = 21
Gender = Female
Assigned Position = Security Detail
Aptitude = Work in progress
Disadvantage = Work in progress
Background = Amelia was one of the last generations born aboard the Neo Kyoto, taking after her parents in their profession (mother was a security trainer, father was a doctor). Born prematurely, her eyesight was more prone to the many affects within the colony-ship than most, and suffered due to the prevalence of artificial light over natural sunlight. Despite this, she was a healthy baby girl, whom her parents' upbringing ensured full development: they colored her understanding of the world (or rather, everyone aboard the ship), forming an aptitude towards the betterment of humanity--and the ability to handle those who decided otherwise. She was a bookworm, and adored history and tradition, reflecting her love of knowledge with its application, albeit due to poor social skills and a not-that-happy childhood; this did not deter her, however, from shaping herself to the 'best' her parents guided her to understand, insomuch that she could have chosen an aptitude within the medical field of psychology and performed just as well.
She also has a fear of needles--specifically syringes (of an ancient time), rather than knitting or sewing needles.
Age= 26
Gender= White Male Cis Scum (male)
Assigned Position= Biotechnologist
Aptitudes=
Medical Knowledge: Has some knowledge about taking care of injuries and the likes
Master Planner: Prometheus is incredibly good at planning stuff in advance, such as battle tactics or interactions.
Smart: Prometheus is very smart, and good at solving puzzles and riddles.
Disadvantages:
Clumsy: Prometheus is incredibly clumsy and often drops stuff or trips over small objects.
Terrible talker: Prometheus is terrible at talking to people, and absolutely detests it.
For !!SCIENCE!!: Prometheus will do anything for science, especially if it involves new forms of life. Where others would run from a gargantuan monster, Prometheus would stand still to observe its anatomy
Background: Prometheus was named after the Greek Titan of forethought and intelligence, since he showed signs of being quite intelligent when he was born. Both of his parents were biotechnologists and helped sustaining the population of the ship when food wasn't growing fast enough. His parents worked incredibly hard, but managed to live in one of the biggest apartments of Neo Kyoto. He didn't have a lot of friends since he was pretty shy, but he managed to get the highest grades of class at almost every test.
