Well, Volcano has more resources. But Ruins are cooler (edit: oh god I made a horrible pun by accident), so I'm going with Ruins.

Machine ruins is locked in! It's pretty late, but I'll try to still write an update. I'm on a mobile device, so it might take slightly longer than usual.

At first, there was nothing but darkness. Occasionally, a bright flash would appear, showing you the memories of a vivid past. M.O.Ther. was your name; Short for Mind Owning Thermosystem. You were the first and only succesful Artificial Intelligence created by the dwarves, originally built to control the temperature in every building in the great metropolis of Ayerdhûn. Yet the last thing you remember is heat. The heat of burning Ayerdhûn.

You awaken. You immediately feel something is wrong. Your network, used to detect and regulate the temperatures of all buildings, has been completely severed. You can only feel the room you are in, which used to be a great, stone hall. You try to connect with the lesser machines, yet you are barely able to find any. Of the twenty servitor drones that were meant to repair you, only seven still work. These small bots are incredibly fragile, but their many appendages allow them to create and repair complex mechanical structures. Using these servitor drones as a new beacon, you try to locate more machines. Eventually, you manage to connect to a group of twenty Guards, humanoid machines the size of a large orc, used to maintain peace in the city. Other than a few faint signals, out of your reach, you are unable to locate any other machines.

Civilians: 7 servitor drones, 20 Guards [Machines need to be constructed or discovered]
Food: 0 [Machines do not need fuel as long as they refuel at M.O.Ther. once every two ticks. Fuel will be needed for long travel
Military: 20 Guards
Relations: None
Technology: Geothermal energy, Simple Drones, Simple Machines
Magic: None

Special units: M.O.Ther. (A.I., In control of stuff)
Constructions: Main hall (open)

I suggest we scout our surroundings, first and foremost. How about we start with the North for our first action, followed by the South for our second?

You order 10 of your guards to scout to the north, and tell them to gather scrap metal while they're at it. They quickly return, carrying as much scrap metal as they can. [25 Scrap Metal gathered]. They soon tell you what they discovered. To the north of the building, there's several streets, littered with thrash, boulders and skeletons. The buildings next to these roads are mainly houses, yet somewhat further a great cathedral of the Serpent God still stands. Oddly enough, this cathedral seems to be completely unharmed. Further north, lies a great river. The great bridge that once allowed the people to cross this river has long since collapsed, blocking the guards from scouting any further. Some of the guards say they have detected small, humanoid life forms hiding at the other side of the bridge, possibly kobolds or goblins, yet they were not completely sure.
