<<<Astranomicon<<<
Bubble Reality

Imagine a game where you are challenged to adept, where what you do may not only impact your experience, but those to follow in your place, and those beyond your current perception.

Explore a wide selection of worlds each created by someone different. Encounter puzzles and challenges that require you to strategize, backtrack, cooperate, and compete. Discover hidden plots and story arcs you can influence. This is an organic ongoing simulation and you redefine your role within it all in every action you take. You are not alone. Many will cross paths with you. No one's journey will be the same.

1. You can only be in one place at a time.
• Look at the Astranomicon below, check out the different realities. Pick where to start!
• To easily travel between bubbles(without starting over), pick one that can already go to others.

2. Gods may mess with you. I did warn you.
• Read about Freeplay, Encounter, and Discovery general reality types and decide which kind you'd like to play!

3. You can start over at any time, losing everything and able to pick a new place to start.
• If it is possible to die or otherwise "lose" in a reality, a god may have a penalty less severe than starting over.

4. Note where you are each post.
• It's easy! @1 = At bubble one! Some currencies will require you to keep track yourself.
• (Optional) Post the banner of a place you are going to for the first time. (See my next post for an example)

• freestyle: you read about the setting, then do what you want.

• encounter: you read about the setting, then do what you want but the god can make you have a surprise encounter with someone or something.

• discovery: you read about the starting area, then choose what to do there. The god tells you what happens, and you make your next choice after that.

These are basic outlines, be sure to read a reality's info carefully, as there may be some special circumstances that don't fit into these outlined styles completely.

((I was granted access to Reality 2))

As I enter into the ramshackle Wildlife Reserve, a hunched man closely inspects me with yellow, rheumy eyes.  I raise my hand in greeting, trying not to stare at his truly ancient form, and smile.

"Hello, sir.  You would be The Caretaker, I presume?"

Assuring its grip, a climb the rope towards the floating island. The ocean waves getting smaller below me, I wonder what I may find as I glance back up to the growing object in the sky. Overcoming several moments of dizziness and disorientation, I shimmy up the grassy cliff, peering from side to side looking for beasts or unexpected threats.

The ancient man looks you over and grunts. He then says, "See Jeremy at the equipment stand for your weapon rental if you plan on going further than the hot springs. Come back once you have a weapon if you're interested in helping out around here.

"Well, something about this place piques my curiosity...  I'll be right back."

It's not a large building, so it isn't hard to find the makeshift equipment stand across from The Caretaker.  Old floorboards creak and groan as I make my way to the pitted counter and inspect the merchandise, such as it is.

I can just make out the silhouette of someone in the back, and I call out to them.  "Excuse me, are you Jeremy?  I'm Derek, just got off the boat, so to speak.  I was wondering what weapons are available for rent."

Fortunately,(Or unfortunately if you were some kind of adrenaline junkie,) you're only at the Surface, the barrier between Sky and Ocean. Looking around, you see only the tamest of creatures flying or swimming about. A red-crested bird lands on your shoulder and chirps in your ear as you make your way onto the sky island.

I begin in the Battlefield with a simple sword and a simple shield. What do I have around me?

"Hmm, after climbing so high in the air, I thought I was getting somewhere..."

I walk slowly to the center of the small island and take in the nature for a moment, the chirping and the grass and trees.

*Moments later, viewing from below the island looking up- quick footsteps are heard and then a garbed figure jumps off the island and flips forward in the air before diving straight down, down, down and splashing into the water*

"Well I can't go up", I say as I swim to my sail boat. "Time to go down!"

*The sailboat transforms(mechanically) into a submarine*

I kept going down and down, ignoring anything that didn't look especially... mean... along the way...

Currently the Battlefield is a thick forest, but without much vegetation other than trees and grass. You can hear metal clanging in the distance from most directions. The only creature you can see is someone with mostly basic equipment like you trying to sneak around by moving through trees, but not doing it very well. They haven't seen you yet.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

Jeremy eyes you much like the Caretaker did. "Would you like a bow, an ax, or a sword. Each costs 5 Cindertokens to rent, but you can rent one in exchange for being back some dinner if you're broke."

I enter the wastes with two things- a pack and a dagger. While they are relatively simple items, they are both useful and dependable.

I couldn't help but be unsettled by the way the locals looked at me.  I could feel them picking me apart with their eyes, searching for weakness.  I wondered, how many hundreds had they seen come through here, eager like me, only to never return from the wild?  Was I already seen as just another casualty?

Despite my unease, I resolved to be friendly.  "I'll take a bow, thanks.  And I'll be getting that dinner for you, I suppose.  Any special requests?  Nice meeting you, Jeremy."

After hearing Jeremy's reply, I grinned and held up my bow and ammunition as I approached The Caretaker.  "Alright, I've got my weapon.  Have you got any work for me?  I've heard some interesting things about the Howling Plateaus, if you've got anything in that area."

As you and your submarine dive further and further in to the depths, you see probably hundreds of different kinds of sea creatures. Fish, squid, crabs, turtles, You even think you see a family of seahorses, camouflaged amongst the coral on the islands. None of these things would probably classified as "mean", though.

But finally, diving down further, where it starts becoming a little bit hard to see, swimming over a particularly flat island, are two sharks. The two sharks are fighting over territory, it would seem. It would make sense; they are a bit larger than the fish above, who shared their islands.

The section of the Wastes you emerge into is particularly verdant; There's a thick layer of plants covering most surfaces, and, while there are sure to be animals, most of the life here seems to be vegetation. Most of it seems to be relatively mundane, but a few plants here and there appear metallic and stiff, and there's vines above that seem to be using insectoid wings to stay aloft. Also notable a a few of the trees, which seem equipped with long teeth and long membranous manes running down their branches. The air hangs with a foul odor, no doubt the result of the rotting fruits on the ground. You can see the very edge of this zone a good distance away through the trees, and a small clearing dominated by a tree in the opposite direction. Alternatively, you could simply explore or hunt in the lush area between the two.
