The sharks looking of the regular variety, are not worthy of my attention. Deeper I go...

I walk towards the clearing, dagger in hand. If I see any interesting animals or plants on the way, I stand at a safe distance and examine them.

Leaving the two sharks to fight for dominance, you adventure deeper into the Waterrealm. Getting a bit hard to see, now. Travelling between two notably large yet vertical slices of rock, you get the feeling you're stepping in to truly dangerous territory. Strange invertebrates float around your vessel, you see another shark consume a stray fish in one bite, a purple starfish somehow got itself attached to one of your windows.

The lights go out.

After a few tense seconds, in which the submarine nearly crashes into the left rock, the power comes back on and you can see again. Steering sharply away from a watery grave, you look at the battery charge. It's draining fast. Very fast. If you don't find the cause soon, you'll quickly end up a drowned corpse in a crashed boat in an infinite ocean.

I couldn't help but be unsettled by the way the locals looked at me.  I could feel them picking me apart with their eyes, searching for weakness.  I wondered, how many hundreds had they seen come through here, eager like me, only to never return from the wild?  Was I already seen as just another casualty?

Despite my unease, I resolved to be friendly.  "I'll take a bow, thanks.  And I'll be getting that dinner for you, I suppose.  Any special requests?  Nice meeting you, Jeremy."

After hearing Jeremy's reply, I grinned and held up my bow and ammunition as I approached The Caretaker.  "Alright, I've got my weapon.  Have you got any work for me?  I've heard some interesting things about the Howling Plateaus, if you've got anything in that area."

The caretaker directs you to the Commission Board. "Try learning the lay of the land around here first, they're called the Howling Plateaus for a reason. There's no bottom to those canyons, once you fall you'll be Howling forever." As you walk away you think you hear a soft chuckle, but you cannot be sure. The Commission Board has several standing quests:

1) Hunt two Great Moose: 4 CT (Repeatable every few days)
2) Clear out a nearby goblin camp: 7 CT (repeatable every week)
3) Dinner for Jeremy- hunt a game animal (repeatable every meal time)
4) Kill a dire wolf: 10 CT (repeatable weekly)

In addition the Commission Board states that the Wildlife Reserve will buy food at the following amounts:
1 Great Moose corpse: 2CT
3 Rabbit: 1 CT
1 Wyrm corpse: 15 CT

With your weapon in hand you step outside. Its a beautiful pine forest, it smells fresh and wild. There are no monsters immediately around. A few hotsprings are nearby.

I walk towards the clearing, dagger in hand. If I see any interesting animals or plants on the way, I stand at a safe distance and examine them.
Creeping softly through the underbrush, you approach the clearing. There are small disturbances in the air as you get closer, half-formed images like dreams flitting in and out of existence. It takes you a moment to notice, then, that one of the distortions isn't changing, isn't false. It's not large, perhaps roughly the size of a house-cat. It has a roughly equine form, though the details are sloppy and fluid, flesh shifting and wobbling as it strides close to the ground. It's twitching, and a grotesquely long tongue lolls from its smooth, sharp jaws. You pause, and your hand brushes against a bluish plant. Your mind feels like it's been set aflame, though it fades quickly after your instinctive spasm brings your hand away from the shrub. However, it seems the beast noticed, as its head snaps to attention, its tongue beginning to dart to and fro like a snake's as it begins to drip an amber liquid. The creature begins to waver, its form growing blurry and jumping from side to side as it moves toward you, and you s͟ud̨d͟e҉nl̸y̧ reaĺi̛z̢e t̵h́at ̴it͜ m̸e͘ans͝ ͜o h̶ar̴m,͢ a̡n͏d́, ͞in façt̕,͜ has ̢wànt͡ȩd͠ ̛to h͏elp̶ o͘ne su̶ch ͟as̴ ̡y҉o̢u ͢fo̢r͟ ̨a l͘o̵ng͞ t҉im͟e̶.҉ What do you do?

I hum as loudly as possible, and cover my ears as best I can with one hand. If the creature attacks, I will use my free hand to stab it with the dagger.

No matter, I knew I would prove myself in time.

I carefully scan the nearby area looking for tracks or disturbed brush.  If I find any, I start carefully tracking the animal.

A short distance to the north you find tracks. At first you didn't recognize them, but they are definitely tracks. However, they are the larges tracks you have ever seen. Each one is is over a foot wide and almost six inches deep. You're coming to understand why they call it a Great Moose...

The tracks lead west into the thicket.

You do so. The ship is moving slower now, but you still need to find the cause of the power failure.

Wisely realizing that it's messing with your mind, you attempt to block it out physically by covering your ears. This proves rather difficult with only one arm, but you manage. You can still feel it though, feel those thoughts that aren't yours whispering things you don't know. It's getting close now, its shimmering form only an arm's length away. As it approaches further, it. Its tongue lashes out, striking you squarely across the chest and leaving a long streak of amber goo slathered across your clothes. You return with a quick jab with your dagger, cutting a thin line along its side. Coppery flesh and ichor sloughs from the wound for a moment, though the wound is already beginning to weave itself shut. The thoughts in your head quickly become more urgent and louder, swelling to a far louder volume. ÝǪ̸̕͝U̧͜ ̶̵̨́̕D̴̕͟͜Ó̶͘͝͠N̸̵̡͘͘'̡̀T̴͟ ̢́̀͟W̶̧͡A͠͏͘͟͠N̵̸̛͜͠T̴̕ ̵̧͡͠T̷͏҉O̸̡͢͡ ̴̴͢͠H̵̶̢U̶͠R̵̷T̛́͘͜͢ ͏̷́̀̕I̸̵͟͠T́̕͟͠͞.̷̡́͢ The goop, having soaked into your shirt, is causing a tingling effect in your chest, and you're feeling more and more drowsy as time goes on. You can still stick it out, but you should probably deal with it soon. What do you do?

@11

((Whoops.))

The first priority, of course, is to get my shirt off and wipe whatever sedative remains away from my skin. If there's still time after that, use the shirt as a glove, in order to grab a leaf from that mind-burning plant I encountered before. Should the creature attempt to lick me again, block it with my shirt, pack or dagger.

You crouch down in your seat, trying to focus your senses on hearing. You close your eyes, and take in the sound of the ocean. The silent hum of your submarine's turbines, the faint sloshing as it moves through the watery expanse.. it would almost be peaceful, if you weren't in mortal danger. You open your eyes for just a moment to steer your vessel from the rocky wall. Just how big are these two islands? You listen harder.

There! A faint.. you don't know what to call it. It's like two hollow rocks being rubbed against each other. In any case, it's near the back of the submarine, and, as you move towards it, you can hear it being accompanied by the sound of static sparks. This is definitely what's causing the power failure.

I pull a lever and the sudsy sound of bubbles surrounds my precious craft. "Surface!"
