Navarro aims the shotgun at Janeway, who cowers, missing completely and proving yet again his apparent lack of competence with firearms. In doing so, he ends up inadvisably close to Janeway, who leans out of her compartment and takes part of his arm off with a shackle-fired metal spike. His shackle is retained, but he loses hold of the shotgun, for obvious reasons. In case I didn't make this clear enough, he has only one hand now. He grits his teeth and soldiers on, his stump oozing the good red stuff in copious amounts.
Desmond and Emilio flail at one another, rising to the surface again before they manage to resume their duel. Emilio sends a viscious strike at Desmond's breast, nearly impaling the still beating heart, but his adversary shimmies away completely, avoiding any harm.

Desmond decides that the best way to kill Emilio would be to drag him underwater and hold onto him at the bottom till he drowns. He thus empties his lungs of air in order to sink better, and grabs Emilio's legs, thrashing downwards. Emilio somehow manages to stay afloat, deperately kicking out in order to keep his head above the water.
Zack manipulates the controls frantically, swinging an admirably-struggling Magnus into the pillar a few times, with little apparent effect, then dropping him vertically. For the moment, the weight of the heavy metal chain keeps him down in the water, but he begins to feel able to either try and swim up or unentangle himself.
