FRAT BOY IN THE HAUS
1DD.
"Glad to have you with us, folks! Now let's get on with this episodes's glorious team challenge game: Crane Combat! All our lucky contestants have to do is eliminate the opponent's driver: either by destroying the vehicle, killing or incapcaitating him, or simply by chucking him off one of those tall stone platforms you see there!" The North platform rises, while the South one falls several metres. Some time later, two mobile cranes are lowered from the roof, the blue one landing on the West platform, the red one on the East. The cranes resemble minature lorries on tank treads, Janeway and Zack sitting in the fronts next to a fairly simple control panel, heavy lifting equipment in the back. The East and West pillars both have a small metal jetty in front, extending a few metres over the void, on which rests a flat wooden platform, two metres by two metres, attached to the crane's rope. The controls are simple, with basic driving equipment, as well as an "up/down" lever, a "rotate right/left" lever and a "forwards/back" lever, allowing movement of the crane to any angle in three dimensions above the vehicle. The cranes, when fully extended, could meet in the middle with a reasonable amount of room. The whole setup looks something like this:
The players are roughly fifty feet above the twinkling black waters.
"So we're ready to begin! Looks like Janeway and Zack will be our drivers for tonight! Oh, and one more thing before you start: you see those levers on the sides of some of the pillars? Pull one, and a ramp will come down from the ceiling, connecting it to another of the pillars! You can even drive a crane across these, but there is one problem: the levers for ramps are only available from the higher ends. Obviously, no ramps go across the arena, that would be far too simple, just North to East and West, and East and West to South! And how will you get around the arena? By clambering onto those wooden platforms, of course, and having your crane drivers swing you across! You do trust your teammates, don't you?" Everyone gets it? I'll be able to answer questions for a few hours.
