after 3 thousand years

Out of curiosity, since you're doing such a long run, are you pursuing unicorn tech? Without paragon, it won't be possible for you to purchase Anachronomancy, so there's no point in chasing after alicorns or time crystals. But you should be able to convert tears to black liquid sorrow so that you'll be able to build a black pyramid on your second run. If you ever do a second run.

I've got to the sky palace, 13 alicorns, 10 ziggurats, 0.09 production.  Unicorn Utopia is ages away, merely having 250k unicorns to sacrifice at this time.  If I can math right, I need 25 million at this point.  Not sure if faster to leave as it is or increase production by spending unicorns.  I may or may not eventually spend more blueprints on ziggurauts down the line.

25 million / 2500 = 10,000 conversions
With 10 ziggurats, 10,000 conversions would give 100,000 tears

It costs 10,000 tears to produce 1 black liquid sorrow. You only need 5 to build a black pyramid, and you probably already have 1 from the recent patch. Looks to me like you only need 40,000 tears, not 100,000. So with 10 ziggurats that's 4000 conversions, times 2500 = 10 million unicorns, not 250 million.

So, one twentyfifth as many.

But, you need 10 million, you have 250,000...9,750,000 a .09 unicorns per second, that's 1253 days.

Quote
Not sure if faster to leave as it is or increase production by spending unicorns

250,000 unicorns / 2500 per conversion * 10 ziggurats = 1000 tears

Would need to know the breakdown of your unicorn generation rate bonuses to give a precise answer, but just to give a ballpark, assuming you have 1 each, tomb, tower, citadel and palace, and no bonuses from any other source, that would mean your .09/sec is receiving a 90% bonus, meaning your base generation is about .0473/second. If you took those tears and built even a single additional sky palace, that would change your 90% bonus to 140%, resulting in ~.1135 unicorns/second.

10 million unicorns / .1135 = 1019 days instead of 1253 days. Looks to me like spending tears is better if you're in for the long haul. But we're talking about multiple years.

But, let's say you bought the sky palace to cut it down to 1019 days, then doubled your number of ziggurats to 20. That would cut 1019 days down to ~510. And if you then spend a week or two generating faith to get about 5 million, that would give you roughly a 100% unicorn production bonus, cutting it down to 255 days, which is ~27,540 game years.

If you're going for the 40,000 years achievement, and you're only on year ~3000, you should be able to do it with plenty of time to spare.

If anyone was wondering if the last, super expensive paragon price reduction purchase is worthwhile, I just bought it.

A few pricing examples:

 * Log house #100 costs 95,000 wood and 119,000 minerals.
 * Smelter #101 costs 101,000 minerals
 * Mine #95 costs 35,000 wood
 * Workshop #90 costs 25,000 wood and 102,000 minerals
 * Aquaduct #110 costs 2967 minerals

I've just figured out that Eludium comes from the workshop.  By jah, that Eludium wall.  Kittens will spend centuries in a long dark age of non-advancement.
It'll go hand-in-hand with the current age of Alicorn rule.

I can only imagine. I'm in the middle of a medium-length paragon run, with all but the last price reduction upgrade, and 196 paragon. Just got unobtanium huts, would like to get to 274 kittens if possible, which would give me 400 paragon total for the next run and...wait, huts just capped at 253 kittens? Hmm, I COULD cut and run... But wait! I'm getting too good of a boost from the magnetos...

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Are spiders worth trading with? I've hit a point where coal is the major bottleneck for my kittens, and it seems like they might help with that. However, 50 scaffolds is a LOT of wood, and I wonder if those wouldn't go better just directing them into quarries or other coal producing methods.

Titanium Range: You could get by without trading with spiders.
Uranium Range: You should be ramping up your trade empire, so that titanium trade doesn't suck, which you spend on uranium trade.  You don't really have room for spiders.
Unobtanium Range: You'll need plenty of steel for oil... to get into space.
Eludium Range: You need tons of steel.

I've never found the spider trade to be useful. The coal shortage, incidentally, is only an issue for a relatively small windows of play. Early on, get both the workshop upgrades that produce coal and don't skimp on smelters. But overall, don't worry about it very much. Once you have geology, and especially once you have the geodesy upgrade too, coal will stop being a problem because any time you want coal you can dump kittens on producing it.

There is another potential window where coal shortage can be an issue, that being oil well requirements to reach space. I advisethat you deal with that by not doing it. On a first run, don't even try to reach space. It's not worth it. Wait on space until you have maybe 200 paragon. It will reduce your steel needs probably roughly in half while simultaneously increasing your production by a factor of three or so.

In the meantime, again: just be sure you have both coal unlocks and get geology/geodesy when you can.

It's probable that very little in no-reset play will be relevant to anyone not playing that way. You're just as likely to be giving people counterproductive advice as useful advice.

I have geology, geodesy, and a few of the upgrades for the smelter, and 41 cats dedicated to coal production. Just impatient I guess.

Build more workshops?

With those upgrades, pre-space and cats on geology...steel really shouldn't be a problem. At all.

Hmm... was wondering why I couldn't make the religious Marker building.  Need 25 paragon to unlock megalomania.
In the year 25k...  I might be able to get into time crystals and utopia by then.
