I reset at 77 kittens, for, and although the boost isn't quite noticeable yet, I suspect it will become very much so later on when I have to put raw materials through three types of processing.

Probably the first difference you'll notice is that keeping kittens happy is easier. And the passive culture bonus will help a lot. That's usually a bigger bottleneck in the fur-->parchment-->manuscript-->compendium process than raw production power is. Remember that religion has upgrades that increase culture production.

In my case, my second run was at least as long as the first, but I went further. You'll get to where you were faster, but the most productive time in terms of reset gains is mostly at the end of a run. For example, if it took you  week to get 7 paragon last time, and if this time it takes you only 5 days to get to the point where you'd earn 7 more, once you're there you might discover that spending those two extra days will enable you get 30-40 more.

Advice: don't even bother trying to reach space or do anything with metaphysics or unicorns yet. Your next run should be about getting lots of paragon. With those bonuses you shouldn't have any difficulty getting to 100-120 kittens.

Anyone considering doing their first space venture, I recommend you wait until you have 200-250 paragon or so, for the storage capacity boost. It will shave a few oil wells off the number required. With 95 paragon, my last required oil well, #34, is going to take 5000 steel, plus 2500 gears. With 55 workshops and a factory, that's a little over 13,000 steel for one oil well. 250 paragon gives a 25% storage capacity increase. Which works out to 4 or 5 fewer oil wells. That's a lot of steel.

For the record, 215 paragon means you can get away with just 31 for the base.  Not much more paragon (not doing the math) would knock it down to 30; I'll be 325 storage short at that point.  I'm also up to 62 workshops at this point.

Hmmmm tankers cost 22500 steel per craft (and 250 bloody ships) but that gives you 4 to 5 times 500 oil storage per craft vs 1500 per oil well. Meaning they will become roughly equal in steel cost somewhere around that point. Perhaps better if you invest more in factories.

Also remember you can turn off factories when you do not need them. Handy if you do not have enough power.

Same here. Biolabs and upgraded oil wells are the only significant consumers of power. Oil production has enormous downtime and wells can easily be turned off. You retain storage capacity from depowered wells and that's mostly what you need them for. And biolabs stop being needed in huge quantities after a couple hundred paragon and some metaphysics upgrades . My last run I made it to nuclear fission without a single lab. Not because I was going out of my way to do that, I just didn't need them. Though I suppose you might want to build them anyway if you're converting catnip to wood as your primary source of wood rather than having lumberkitties.

The big disappointment with factories is that their bonus seems to be additive with workshops, not multiplicative. They really should have been multiplicative.

I've yet to build a tanker. 250 ships and 1250 alloy...I just don't see many scenarios where that's cost effective. Even on my first trip to space with only 95 paragon and no metaphysics, 34 oil wells was enough to build a moonbase. Yes, oil requirements to go up quite a bit from that point, but the late-game space structures don't seem to be particularly valuable and if you really need 50,000 more oil capacity to build one, are you really going to build tankers for that? I'd rather reset and come back with more paragon and not need the tankers.

Currently busy with building my first moonbase. I got 140 Paragon and the oil pump grind doesn't seem so bad. Just build oil well 30 and it takes 28 minutes of coal production to make oil well 31. I can also still shift a lot more kittens to coal.

I always keep one just for kicks, but they're really useless once you get chapels.  I usually prioritize Acoustics just for them.

They were dirt cheap after the titanium started rolling, gotta squeeze that last bit of happiness out of those kittens.

Steel plants cause calciners to consume coal. And it seems LESS efficient than converting it yourself.

Just got geology. Is there any reason whatsoever to have geologists around? Their coal production is a drop in the bucket.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.
