I got rid of all the Parchment and stuff... I don't see a need for it to automatically make them

During some phases of the game culture is a much bigger bottleneck than fur. Your needs may vary.

Right now my Culture increases faster then my parchment. I'd have none.

But fine I'll alter the script... I also added steel to it... Since my coal takes only 30 minutes to max.

I use kittens scientists. Great for grinding overnight.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Is there another use for Ivory?

There are a couple million ivory worth of late-game unicorn tech tree upgrades. But even those aren't anything to worry about. By the time you unlock them you'll probably have the ivory to buy them without any special effort.

The caravanserai workshop upgrade also takes 10k ivory. But again, by the time you unlock it you'll probably have the ivory.

Mostly it's just the naga trade, and there's only a very small window of the game where that's useful. There are too many other far-more-important uses for gold than to waste it on trading with nagas just to feel like you're not wasting ivory: temples, trading posts and the zebra/dragon trades. But I suppose if you haven't unlocked any of those, go for it.

I'm building both temples and trading posts now, (and ampitheatres), and only just unlocked theology, trying to build/save up the science for ironwood huts.  I am not entirely sure when I want to do my first reset, currently at 48 kittens, seems like I might want to wait until 71, unless I just let it keep going until it becomes a chore to babysit.  My main concern is/was/has been balancing wood/mineral generation, but ... that's the challenge, right?

Edit: Can someone recommend a decent, and free, image hosting service?  the one I used to use has been taken over by a more business orientated service and they keep requesting that I trial their business options ... which is pissing me off.

Have been using them for years with no major complaints.

I have a slight feeling that... at 20 Ampitheatres... the happiness penalty won't go away.

That it is just 100/1.05^n

I am done. I feel like I finished the game already. I really like these sort of games but they eat too much of my time, so it needs to be truly great for me to give it more time... and for a waiting game I've certainly played better more engaging ones (Cookie clicker for example)

Why is happiness a penalty, Neo?

It is a happiness that takes more then it gives :P

You have to be careful with addiction based gameplay.

I never did feel obligated to not close the game cause the luxuries were getting eaten away.  (EDIT: Luxuries only increase productivity... or mitigate lack of productivity.  You can just put more kittens on the farm if you are getting winter wipes due to rolling jackpot on the cold front and non-luxury.)

Granted, I havn't let my population explode.

Edit your save to have 99999999999999999 barns (or 999999999999999 paragon if you want storage space for everything including labor etc, and a +200% production boost) and then you can let it idle as long as you want in the background and only click it when you feel like it.

Or just add 999999999999999 of everything and finish the game in 5 minutes so you can be free.

I just wiped my save to prevent further addiction.

Sorry, guys. It is an unbelievably well-executed concept, but it's just too much of a Skinner box for me to be playing responsibly while studying abroad.

OK, I started a new game, but I got an alerts script so that I don't have to babysit it and can do productive things while it runs.

Fucking kittens.

This game is dangerous.  I just unlocked oil wells.  Planning to restart for the first time when I reach 100 kittens.

I've been doing an Iron Will run to see how different it is from the base game. Boy do things take forever to obtain, but it sure does feel good when I hit the next major set of technologies to play with. Currently working towards orbital launch, should be able to get there within the next temple or so.

ps: I'm surprised that a) I didn't discover this thread earlier, and b) that I've been playing this for way too long...

I'm now on my second run. Well, I suppose technically this is my fourth run, but I wiped the first two runs to try and kick my kitten habit (I've since gotten Kitten Scientists so that I can be more productive while having kittens in the background). I reset at 77 kittens, for 5.62 karma and 7 paragon, and although the boost isn't quite noticeable yet, I suspect it will become very much so later on when I have to put raw materials through three types of processing. How long am I looking for this second run to go?
