Pah! Anyone can do anything on the Moon. bay12 Earth gravity track is where it's at!

Theory on the next "impossible" hill. Car has to teeter over hill 2 upside down, so torque'y back wheel reflips car, giving extra speed, and popping larger front wheel over the lip. Or another backflip thingo (which that sort of would be anyway. Not a loop, just a backflip).

This may take some time......

First 30 generations were some sort of incredibly silly thing with the back wheel a tiny fraction the diameter of the fore, across an elongated body, that kept getting high centered around the 109 mark, now, even sized wheels seem to be dominating, and 1-2 make it over the wide square-ish ditch at the ~148m mark to do some backflips on that little needle peak before they die.

Gen 59: Toucan Sam bought a car.

Back to more car-like looking things. Dropped the mutations way down, elites way up (eight), and just hoping they flip and loop just the right way.

Loops completely unnecessary. Last toucan just teetered over both hills and got my high of 159.83m at Gen 63. Possibly enough torque for hill 3 after genetic stuff happens. Now at 1%/1%/8E

Meh. I'm crashing out. I'll leave it running overnight at 2%/2%/5E.

Maybe they'll invent jet engines or something (I'm still not sure if torque or density is capped on highs/lows yet). Third hill's a doozy though.

At Gen #72.

If no one has gotten over that wall by mid morning tomorrow (my morning, +10GMT), next course can be "dwarf", which is hopefully doable.

Not getting past the third hellish hill here, currently at generation 170. The cars have regressed from near-equal wheels to a giant front wheel and a tiny rear one.

Nope, me neither. Currently at generation 113.

How annoying. I might give my phone at least a few hours rest. Thanks for participating everyone.

You could try out the "dwarf" track if you'd like (no quotes), maybe in moon mode first, just to see if it's possible.

Oh, and if you want to see something both disturbing and amusing, you can check out GenetiCat from the same creator. I *think* it's meant to jump from the filing cabinet to the shelf. Maybe. Here it is anyway:

"dwarf" is much easier. I'm running four sims at once, each at different values. The best one is interestingly the one I set to be the most generically stable. 5% mut chance, 10% mut size, 10 clones. After 15 gens:
#1: 164.99 d:161.39 h:-3.3/5.72m (gen 13)
#2: 164.7 d:161.41 h:-3.27/5.7m (gen 11)
#3: 160.22 d:156.67 h:-3.27/4.71m (gen 14)
#4: 159.96 d:156.63 h:-3.29/4.57m (gen 10)
#5: 143.11 d:139.03 h:-3.67/4m (gen 12)
#6: 140.69 d:135.1 h:-3.12/4m (gen 15)
#7: 140.37 d:135.83 h:-3.47/2.38m (gen 9)
#8: 138.81 d:134.73 h:-3.47/2.73m (gen 8)
#9: 129.27 d:123.3 h:-3.47/4m (gen 7)
#10: 125.82 d:121.21 h:-3.94/3.11m (gen 5)

Edit 1: This setup actually has zero deaths before 100 meters, which is very wierd.

Edit 2: My sim set at the default settings finally beat the super-stable one.
#1: 166.11 d:161.84 h:-3.76/7.65m (gen 46) vs. #1: 165.58 d:162.52 h:-3.38/7.8m (gen 26)

Edit 3: That wall at 140 is going to be the death of me.

Edit 4: Default settings beat the ~165 wall!
#1: 192.59 d:189.43 h:-3.52/8.89m (gen 88)
At 192, there's a massive, near vertical wall. I'll leave it going for a while and see if it can beat it.

I forgot just how much of a random mishmash of "cars" you start with. I've repopulated twice now after deciding that they were all abominations and should never be allowed to breed.

Has anyone else tried changing the "elite clones" number? Changing it from 1 to 2 significantly reduced the number of terrible cars I got.

I had similar results with that.

It looks like it sorta breaks after 200; the track just bugs out completely, disappearing, looking like it's tangled up and applying seemingly random forces to the cars. I got to 200+ on dwarf with Moon gravity pretty easily. In three out of my four simulations of Moon dwarf, the most successful designs were all esentially the same; two giant wheels and a sorta rectangular in the middle, so the cars spent 90% of their time in the air, and when they landed, they landed on their wheels, gaining enough speed on their short reunion with the ground to fly off again.

Also, on the normal dwarf tests, 3/4 had nearly identical designs. They were all large wheeled, with most of their weight in a horn near their front wheel, and a long back leg.
