I enjoyed using The Gears of War for my group name awhile back.

One of my favorite fortresses random-named was Odortown.

My fort for the next version will be called Motaval "Strangelove". No fighting in the war room.

I always embark under the group name "The board of fortresses" Asob Geshud. It used to be "The board of beards" back before I did a custom race for a while.
I just stuck with the new name despite not playing as non dwarves now.

The fort is usualy named something like "the doom fort of dooming the doom doomer". Like a noun repeated alot.

I wish my memory wasn't so crap. One of my groups was something like the overflowing bodices, or the enlarged bodices. Something like that.

Usually my fortress reflects what I want to achieve. WarBears was my favourite. I trapped and trained grizzly war bears. No cheaty elf imports here! Of course it only took about 2 years before my dwarves were better fighters than the bears but that's not the point!

My current expedition is called the Razors of Squirting.  A lot of my current citizens are former members of the Sect of Sparkles, the Cyclopean Cult and the Carnal Doctrine.

Even tough it was random, Bastiongate is a pretty good name. Especially since it was random.

I once random-genned a Dwarven Group named "the Corridors of Running."

Methinks they were Whovians.

I always name my group The Fat Bellies.

When I first started, I was briefly amused by the fact I could name my fortress "BallsBalls the BallsBalls of Balls"

Unfortunately, I could not mass produce sports equipment there.  So I renamed it


Otherwise, my Favorite (Random) fortress name was ShadyArrows.  Which brings up the mental image of black market arrows.

When I'm embarking I usually just hit (r)andom name few times for the fortress and group names until I get names that actually seem to mean something. Most of them have been pretty boring but occasionally I get gems like:

The Square Wheel
The Gravel of Throats
The Tool of Flesh

One time the RNG was especially kind to me and thus, in 200, The Hot Lanterns of The Regal Volcano founded Searingmines. That was a volcano embark, of course.

The home civilization from my last worldgen was called the Deified Steel.  Also a favorite.
