Age of Wonders 3 has dwarves. Dwarf Fortress has wonders. The parallels need no further explanation.

Let's put together a PBEM game! Who's interested?

Game type:
Whatever works well with lots of players? Alliances and betrayals?

Restrictions:
Ah, Dwarf Fortress Esque civs only? Perhaps. All Dwarves? On the other hand, a pretty standard game works just fine for me.

Players:

Never tried PBEM, not really sure how it works, and I suck at the game... but sure, sign me up!

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

What would be the settings of the game, and how would expansion stuff factor in?

Well, I have all the expansions, but my main concern is having as many players as possible, so it'll probably be the lowest-common-denominator there. I know they are probably available all together for less than $10 if you're willing to trade on steam.

As far as settings go, that depends on the expansions to a degree. I like the idea of a very long game on a very large map (since PBEM allows plenty of time for empire management), but we can vote on settings once we have players. If there's something particular you're looking for, be sure to mention it now.

Sign me up, I guess. I suppose we should set up some rules regarding the PBEM itself, to keep the game going.

Well, let's start with a 24-hour turns. The game will replace you with a bot if you don't select a move within 24 hours of receiving the save. If one expects to need more time, post in the thread or PM me or something and I can modify the settings to extend the deadline.

The game handles all the uploading and downloading, a feature I particularly like.

How many players do we want? I'm willing to wait a week or so to see if we can get a full eight, but maybe that's ambitious. Six would be plenty, and four would be sufficient. Three would work, too, I suppose.

I'd like to wait at least for a fourth player, at least.

I wouldn't worry too much about waiting a few days to start a game that'll take a couple months to play...

Indeed.

We can definitely wait a while.

On the other hand...

It doesn't seem like we've got a lot of interest _yet_, so let's aim at starting with whoever we have on the 30th, and we'll play it as a fast game. As we play, maybe we can drum up interest in a larger game afterwards. Sound good?

Sure. Maybe on a smaller map for a cage-match style game?

I don't think I'm very good at the game, but I'd like to join in anyway if there is still room. If not colour me interested for the next round!

The game's already started, but only one player has completed a single turn, so... there's not much lost by restarting, if everyone else wants to?

We could restart, I guess. We should probably post here to warn others we've completed our turns.
