LordBrassroast, don't underestimate forgotten beasts, just because you happen to stumble across a few that are weak. My last fort, bastiongate(sorry, mixed up the name, but forgot how the fort actually was called), was an easy victim to the goblins after a webbing forgotten beast managed to eat nearly all soldiers before finally one of them managed to get close enough to kill it... (To be honest, I assumed that the remaining soldiers would manage to kill the lousy goblins easily and left the drawbridge open intentionally. That wasn't my smartest idea...)

You must have a dual good/evil biome then, since gorlaks are good only.
You may be mixing them up with fluffy wamblers. Gorlaks are basically everywhere... Annoying pest bas...[mumble, mumble]... At least they tend to end up in cage traps and serve well as live target practice for the archers.

Really, DF and Metal are practically the same. Drunkenness, Death, Depression, Depravity, Despondence, Demons, Dementia, Darkness. And thats just the D's!

also, FB/Titan breeding sounds bleh. Summoning or creating is more flexible.

what if
instead of a deity cursing an individual with becoming some type of night terror

the deity sick'd a forgotten beast on the individual, or heck, if the situation is bad enough in the deity's eye, have a FB appear in the church and kill everyone the deity disapproves of in the town

frankensteining or summoning an FB from another dimension sounds pretty cool. I mean imagine that being the end tiers of the alchemy skill, creating golems, forgotten beasts, titans, demons, and having to keep them under control. And with the religion side, summoning could be an end tier for eldritch.
I mean just imagine being a master alchemist vampire necromancer cthulhu cultist badgerman from an elf civ in dorf fort. Characters can become even more dangerously complex.

And thus, "The running of the goblins" became an annual tradition and the first dwarven contraceptive.

Even better if it's horses. They now have their own personal 50-foot salt lick :)

Yeah, Forgotten Beast randomness can work against them in some cases. While almost all of them might be disgusting sights the actual combat effectiveness of certain creatures is very low even when they're enormous. That said, there are still many FBs who are nigh invincible, so just count yourself lucky when you get a giant slug made of salt who has no special abilities and gets killed by your dogs.

I like to imagine they licked it to death.

but the ones that are made of steel and spit mad rhymes are one in a million takes.

Some just seem to be randomly unkillable. I had a monkey with external ribs, antennae, bloated and towering that could spit fire take down in melee combat 100 cave creatures, and 10 well trained fighters, as well as 80 other dwarves. It broke every single part of its body, but kept going.
