Run your fortress, use "k", look at the tile you want to change, and then run granite.exe to transmute the tile into rock.

You pretty much need to be running in a window in order to do this.

Note that it is not a fail-safe way to make rock. Never use it if an object is in the square.

If you wish for a much more fail-safe way, use flow.exe then granite.exe then mud.exe (the last must be run as "mud.exe -o").
To simplify that, I use this .bat file:

code:
flow.exe
granite.exe
mud.exe -o

You must have all three applications in the same folder as the .bat file.

To make a .bat file:
* Make a .txt file.
* Type your code in it.
* Change the extension to .bat

Aye using granite to cover up stuff has some odd effects. Once i tried to cover up a tower cap seedling and i ended up with a green square of rock. Upon mining it out the tower cap appeared again.

Not long after that the game crashed and i had to use a backup   :o

If you want to use granite.exe on any ground tile other than an unmuddy blank cave floor, use mud.exe (with -o in the command line) after it.

You can wall over the river or the magma or on the outside of the fortress that way?  Interesting.

Indeed. Chasm too. On one fortress, I used it to defend against a horde of mandrills that raided every spring. I didn't know how to use the river + channels to do that at the time.

It works on outdoor channels (at least on the glacier I tried it on) but fails utterly on indoor channels. Those require cave-ins to remove.

I'd love to be able to pick what type of stone it generates though. But then it wouldn't be 'granite.exe', would it?  :)

Actually it generates the stoned based upon what the tile was before hand.
