Just making sure!

So no one likes combat animals?  Okay okay.  Make a tank then.

How about we try and reduce the expense of the Combat Drop Ship by making a simpler engine or something?

I'll wait and see on how the design goes. If that's good, and the powerplant is usable we can just use that for the drop pod.

I dunno, I'm not a fan of the CDS, actually. I tries to do two things (dropping troops and shooting stuff) and end up doing neither of them very well.

Karst-Pattern Hovertank A large, armored vehicle, build around a large and powerful gauss cannon. Though the gun itself is silent, the supersonic projectile is quite noticeable once it leaves the barrel. Power is stored in a series of capacitors, meaning that the fire rate is highly dependent on the amount of power required per shot, and eventual other power use. A far smaller, co-axial gauss canon provides additional firepower against smaller targets. A laser point defense system has been placed atop the tank, and is intended to destroy incoming missiles, a task it accomplishes correctly provided the enemy is neither to numerous or too fast. The tank is heavily armored, allowing it to survive multiple hits. It's hover propulsion allows the heavy vehicle surprising mobility, though even with that it is neither nimble nor agile. Power is provided by a fusion reactor, which is both safe and efficient, though somewhat fragile.  Batch size : 4

Tech Developed : Atmospheric Gauss Canon

A: Rework the Karst to draw the power for it's cannon from the fusion reactor, and boosting the reactor's output accordingly. And while we're at it, use more materials in the reactor housing, and set up a multitude of failsafes to prevent the engine exploding if it gets hit.

B: Start adaptation of the soldier caste to earth's environment, allowing our troops greater operational time on it's surface.

Upgrade all lasers to be more accurate with better targeting systems.

My hope is that we can add a highly accurate point defense system to all our craft, at least we will have a chance to cut their missile weapons out of the sky.

I think we should either improve our Ki'k's targeting so they can shoot down missiles to escort our drop pods, or implant lasers in our Soldier Caste's arms.

If I have to choose, I favor the latter as we can already quite efficiently drop troops by simply not sending them where the enemy is.

Why implant lasers in their natural melee weapons? That's sorta super fucking stupid. They already carry lasers. The only result of implanting would be heat issues due to a lack of area to disperse heat and generally weaker natural melee. (Which is capable of destroying armored vehicles.)

Now naturally grown lasers, using some kind of fluorescent chemical and organic lenses, would be a good idea to grow on our self reproducing terror beasts.

What about upgrading the drop ships to have internal barriers and emergency responses to reduce the effectiveness of a direct hit?

Naturally grown lasers would still have the problem of Heat Dispersal. And the potential for cancer.  You do realize what a laser is right? They aren't cold.

That is why they reproduce rapidly and eat people!  They could have lenses that get replaced like shark teeth...

Okay this sounds like a bad idea.

That wouldn't work. You are correct in that it is a bad idea.

Although I am not opposed to biological monstrosities, they need to be done right.

This is a great example of biological monstrosities done right. (You won't see them for the first bit.)

Yeah, no point in implanting something they can just carry.

Sigh. So, where are we as far as atmospheric conditioning goes?
