Ebbor mentioned it in the OP. IIRC 10/20 is for standard operating effectiveness and at 20/20 you basically have enough to use them for everything.
EDIT - got the quote:
Quote
Any army can have between 0 to 20 units, where 0 means none are present, and 10 means enough are present for normal combat effectiveness. At 20 you could be using mech suits for logistic purposes if no better alternatives are available.

News Report: Alien Invasion in Brazil

Confusion around the world as Brazilian government officials claim the wave of terror now gripping large parts of the country is actually an alien Invasion. Apocryphal video evidence of alien ships and mysterious vehicles is now doing the rounds. Other sightings are claimed to have occurred in China, Africa, US, and other continents.

Battle Report:2025 Q2

Spoiler: Battle (click to show/hide)

South America, Brazil, EPA main Staging Area

The EPA staging area used to be a small military base operated by the Brazilian armed forces. Equipped with basic facilities and a short runway, it was intended to do nothing more than stage expeditions against drug smugglers operating in the area, though it's defenses had been improved after tensions in recent years.

Now, the base was one giant hive of activity. Temporary constructions had tripled the size of the base, and two runways had hastily been constructed. The activity was easy to explain. It was the last base still within effective range of the 095's Laser cannon, a weapon the aliens had learned to fear after it effortlessly shot 2 drop ships out of the sky after they attempted an attack on Rio. At the same time, it was the only base that covered the nearby Hydroelectric power plant, which produced power for the region.

The area had been surprisingly quiet for the last few days. A recent attempt by enemy forces to take the dam had shown the efficiency of the Type 025, as they tore through enemy forces, mostly impervious to the laser weaponry. Nevertheless, base Commander was uneasy (Zhou himself was in Brasilia, doing politics). Something was up. The enemy had held back his ground forces, executed only a few probing attacks. Once again, he looked over the intelligence report. Six more vessels had been spotted around the Andean mountains. The enemy knew full well that the 095 was hanging out for the Atlantic Coast, and took great care to avoid it.

A rumbling thunder permeated the room. It was a phenomenon he had become used to in the last few days. Whereas the ground war was dominated by waiting and maneuvers, the war in the air was a deadly stalemate. Both air forces fought hard to attain air superiority. The EPA had a severe numerical advantage,  and it showed, though it did not allow them to dominate. The short range of the missile forced them to close well within firing range of the enemy craft (a situation that only occurred if the probe wanted to close, which happened surprisingly often) and often the fighter sustained critical damage shortly before or after the attack.

Yet another time the rumble permeated the room, but much closer this time. Alarms started ringing. Drop pods were sighted, moving in close to the ground, trying to stay below the terrain such as to prevent interception. A Brazilian tank took aim and fired. The shot bounced harmlessly off the drop ships armor. The drop ship returned the favor, slagging the tank's barrel. Other tanks and troops stationed on the base opened fire now, though with little effect, until one hits the engine, and the dropship slowly falls to the ground, bathing a nearby hillside in a spectacular explosion.

At the same moment, in Low Earth Orbit, the alien commander looked at what could be described as a screen. One gesture, one command, and down on Earth a battery of Karst tanks opened fire. In one strike, a barrage of hypersonic projectiles struck the base. Buildings crumpled, tanks were reduced to shreds of molten metal, and a helicopter simply plucked from the sky. Within minutes, the base was reduced to rubble.

By the end of the day, the Brazilian government had surrendered. And General Zhou was send home in disgrace. His connections with the design team, which had failed to foresee this new development do not help him, or them. The pressure seems to center around General Mao, who had not been granted a command in the recently reorganized operations. There is some good news as well. In light of recent events, the Korea, Japan, Indonesia and several other nations have decided to increase their contributions to the program.

Could we have a breakdown of how many troops are lost to drop pod interception as opposed to actual fighting?

Gauss tank, 4/lot.
IFV, 4/lot.

Are the dices just too happy or is there any mechanics-related reason?

You're using d100? I though the number in the brackets were d6 rolls?

Those are D6 rolls, the d100s were presumably for the actual battle rolls.
