Just a quick question ... how do I remove things like Cave Blob Fluid?

There's a Cleaning labor, but it's bugged and isn't reliable.

This article on blood has some workarounds.

No, I don't mean like stuff on the ground. I butchered some cave blobs and now my butcher's shops have a few items called "cave blob fluid" in them. I tried dumping them but my dwarves don't want to move them...

If its in the butcher's shop, you can try deconstructing/rebuilding it.  Otherwise, you can "clean" containments by purposely flooding your fort.

No, no. I mean this:

It isn't like the blood that's all over my fortress entrance and garbage dump, it's an actual item lying around in the butcher shop. But it doesn't get removed if I set it to be dumped...

Where do you find Cave Blob Fluid on the Stocks screen?  Globs?  I think there are a few glob items that don't go to stockpiles.  Feather tree egg yolk(?) seems to come to mind.

Worst case scenario, deconstruct the butcher shop, move all the useful stuff out of the way, and build a drawbridge to crush the fluid.

DFhack has a command called "autodump-destroy-here" or somesuch that destroys all items designated for dumping on a certain tile. Designate all these things for dumping then use the command. Or you could just deconstruct the workshop and then set the blob fluid to hide. It'll still be there, but it won't look as bad and it won't clutter up the workshop proper.

I'd love to use magma ... but it is on the second floor down from topside ... I'd end up flooding everything, knowing myself! In that case I could just as well unleash a creature that burns its surrounding by just being there on it & all...aaaaaanyway...

It's under "liquid". 72 units of it cluttering up my butcher's shop.
I might try the bridge idea, though I fear when I deconstruct the shops they will make the fluid go everywhere. Kinda sad I can't just butcher all my cave blobs, I like their leather, but this fluid is annoying.

Ah, yes, I thought there had to be some DFHack magic to remove it. That would be an idea if nothing else works. Don't like just hiding the stuff, I already have enough hidden things down in the river.
