Also, DemonicSpoon, that would just encourage blights among the trees, as fire wouldn't clear out old growth and keep forests from suffocating themselves. Like he said, there can be compromise. Have trees drop branches for firewood, perhaps, or help me set up a system of heating that can extend past the City of Rule. Make some space for Bamboo, have trees move to make room for roads and the like where necessary. Have woods or forests move or spread out to less used area(particularly steep hillsides since that benefits everyone) if farmland is needed, so clear-cutting isn't necessary. But if they continue to murder, there will be sap spilled this day.
Urgh, not in the mood to try and compromise on this, but don't want war with another god either atm.
Vis a vis "blights". Presumably you don't specifically need forestfires to fix some of these problems, and the forest people I create masses of are doing this best to maintain forest health. Also magic. (I even made a couple thousand guys this turn who could heal the majority of tree illnesses if needed). Also planning on giving all trees the extremophile trait which should fix any other problems maybe.
Vis a vis heating, the Fuel Trees are basically tailor made for this iirc, and I blocked the knuckleheads of that one tree king council from pushing for their eradication.
Also, lumberjacks will be murdered, no ifs or buts. This is like one of the central tenets/ideas I built my god around, sorry.
