We had a scale-up, BiggerFish. Since 5,000-15,000 mortals wasn't really enough to have big societies with all the fancy whosamawhutsits, we just scaled it by ten.
Yeah I got THAT, but eh.
Eh?
When we had the scale up, the number inflation was
artificial. The extra 90% might as well not exist.
As in, lets say you had 1000 mortals before. If Eid got bored and used some flux to kill 100 of them, then one hundred would die. On the tick, these remaning 900 would die/breed like normal. If this had happened post-inflation, Eid would have killed 1000 and left the population at 9000 with the same attack, while the population counts would pretty much stay the same.
So what you new players should get from this: The number of mortals is smaller than it looks, so build more mortals to compensate.
Ah, but Stirk
10 post scale mortals would beat the crap out of a single pre scale mortal.
Game mechanics wise, they're worth what they're worth. We're not simply slapping an extra zero on, as if we were the population numbers would all end with a zero. So we have slightly more precision to the statistics. Mortals are worth what they're worth. Increasing the scale at which the game takes place at doesn't change that.
The thing is,
no they would not. 10 post-scale mortals would be on equal footing with a single post-scale. A 10,000 man post army would be only able to fight off a 1,000 man army pre. This is what I am saying: The extra 9,000 or 9 are for all intents and purposes imaginary. KJP didn't do anything to the "game engine", they are still reading the "Base" numbers. 10 post mortals are only *really* 1 pre mortal as far as mechanics care.
We
are just slapping an extra zero on. KJP just keeps track of decimals. Basically just multiplying everything by 10 (which is adding an extra zero...) The decimals where, presumably, being kept track of before this and simply not shown (Because nobody cares about a decimal of a mortal.)
Mortals aren't worth what they are worth though. KJP made it clear that it was a
completely cosmetic change. 10k are only worth 1k. They are just pretending that they are actually 10k people to keep the Gods happy.
