Interestingly, it seems most of the YGO vote for things like keeping the council, while people with more experience with Litany vote for things like disbanding the council. I wonder if New guard VS Old makes any difference?

I think the "established" players just liked using it for their own ends, and the newer players didn't get to experience how stupidly childish fun it was to punish Fusil because Stirk was being a nuisance OOC...

Also, KJP, is the 137 player cap just an arbitrary thing, or is there a reason for it?

Edit: Much happier about the multi-god discount though. Seemed a bit OP initially.

I just like 137 a lot and tend to doubt there'll be more than 30 players at any given time anyway

It may have something to do with how only old players really got anything from the Council. It was pretty dead near the end-game. Litany doesn't even have one, meaning newer players never used it.

I also like the discount system better. Nicely done with it!

hector13 and Stirk: Hopefully this leads to multiple misguided attempts to unite all gods under one Pantheon to go on a creation binge :P

You can use it (And I knew you would try  ::)). It just isn't really useful to gods, especially with magic being weaker.

How isn't useful to gods, though? Is there some kind of buffer in place or is it just due to magic being inherently too weak for a god to do much with?

Immagine this like this (and the comparisson might apeal to Stirk too).
You have a gun and a sword. The gun is a AK-47, reliable and usefull in most combat situations. But you only have so much ammo. The sword is kinda shit in a firefight, although you can ocasionaly cut people by ambushing them in coridoors. You are not going to run out of sword though.

Essence and magic. AK-47 and a sword. One is powerfull enough to make the other irrelevant, but can only be used so many times.

Uses of magic: Unlike in YG0, magic cannot be used to escape having to pay Essence (or whatever replaces it). Here, magic is largely (but not completely) relegated to use by mortals attempting to copy a tiny fraction of what gods can do...

I think that's the biggest reason for gods not using magic right now.

DG's analogy is spot on, though. Essence doesn't have limits (beyond being finite) like magic, which has rules and can only affect certain things. For example, Telepathy can only read someone's mind, not build a mountain or smite an entire civilisation.
