((That's one example of lore behind it. They're twotailed shapeshifting cats capable of communing/interacting with the dead, manipulating souls and corpses, and manipulating fire. In some cases, lore speaks of shadow manipulation, but that's sorta spotty and rarely mentioned so I don't consider it a common thing.))

I know for sure I'm going to get out voted, kinda wish this was multiplayer, but I'm going to go with the water type, finally a magikarp that's good for something.

Other than evolving, learning Flail and Splash (which Gyrados can't learn, at least to my knowledge), being a mascot, being food, breeding, memes, and being the favorite of some players that love a challenge, that is.

I have a soft spot for the Grass type (which may or may not have been influenced by my first pokemon being Turtwig), and it can probably grow kindling for us. Having a fire-type is kind of redundant, and a water type will make it hard to burn stuff. The Energy type also seems to be more useful than Light or Darkness.

Need I remind you shadow moves are effective a agianst all non-shadows?
