Perhaps, but is it likely to have battles a neat eight hours apart?

---

How widespread are matchlocks? Considering they're ~6.5x as expensive as the most expensive 5e weapon, I don't see them getting use at this point. Volley fire was around by 1520, so they had to have started becoming more widespread at this point...

Really not worth it compared to a crossbow or bow, I would say, especially as there's a crossbow perk to remove the 'loading' thing.

I'm not entirely sure if a couple of parts are right, in particular the perception and initiative. But other than that it's pretty good! I think.
Your passive perception should be 9, while your initiative is fine. Did you roll for stats out did you use point buy?
Rolled for them.

And yeah, a think a buff would be good. Probably if they could pierce armor reliably, then it would be better. I mean, if crossbows were banned for causing too many knight kills, think about a pistol.

Well, the term bullet-proof came about for a reason.
I'm not arguing for a buff in their power; they are more powerful, if not by much. A breastplate could stop an arquebus shot at decent range at this point. I merely think they're more expensive than they should be, perhaps.

Me and Werty tied our backstories together, btw.

More or less, his characters an old soldier with a load of stories to tell and my character is following him around, writing his memoirs and biography. Of course, she's more than just an author, but it helps her cover her identity-and he's an old family friend, looking out for her.

No. But you might have a battle, march the rest of the day, camp for the night, taking an eight hour rest, and marching until your next battle.

Ah, okay, thanks. I was confused.

They are not widespread at all. At this point, Europe is a backwater, about 25 years behind the rest of the world technologically. I wanted that to be reflected in their cost.

Well, what if they use a Reflex save instead of a Attack roll? And if you're wearing heavy armor, it does half damage if you succeed, while medium and light armors take no damage on a successful save.

But the matchlock was invented in europe.

China invented firearms first, sure, but they didn't progress beyond hand-cannon stage until we exported matchlocks to them.

My thought is more one of production.
Thought: cheaper guns, more expensive gunpowder. Would that work?

I'm really of the opinion they should just be much cheaper. A hundred gold each perhaps instead of five hundred: even the hand crossbow, a highly specialised piece of kit, is only 75.

I wouldn't suggest the reflex save thing.

Penalising someone for wearing heavy armour also seems odd; it's the time period armour still can help protect you from shot.

That makes sense. I'll make the changes.
Edit: Prices adjusted. Please make the proper changes.

Still going through it. I have concerns, but nothing big so far. Right now, I'm most worried about the fighting styles. I'm uncomfortable with it only having homebrew fighting styles, but give me a bit more time.

Well, that's something that could be discussed. I'm not enamoured with any of the homebrew styles, so them being scrapped or whatever is not a issue.

So, since I'm going home could someone give me a quick rundown of what needs to be fixed on my sheet?
