How so?
They would be inventive, and quick to learn things, like how to make civilizations, and how to enslave all of the other races as livestock, because we'd get to sapience 20 turns or so before them, and generally advance through the tech tree faster.

You could sacrifice toughness for increased brain power yes. Smart is acceptable. All things will be balanced.

Ah, but that will change when I have mechs or power armor when you are learning how to make a rifle. We also will have trapping and shelter before you. It's hard to open doors with fins.
