This is what I have so far. One crustacean, one jellyfish, one mollusk, a few plants, and a couple fish. I will take 2 more submissions (ATHATH has a spot claimed at this point). I'm moving back to school this weekend, so I plan on doing the map (suggestions welcome) on Monday and starting then. That's also when I'll start Fleshmancy if you're in on that game.

Name: Tropikus
Animal Family: crustacean
Description: a shelled creature, about half a meter long, usually found in costal areas, it is an herbivore and it looks like a earth crab, but light blue, with forest green patterns on its shell, each pattern is unique however children have a pattern similar to their parents, the females get their mother's while the males get their father's.
Size: half a meter
Traits: Shelled, herbivore, 6 legged, aquatic, long lived, slow producing

Name: Foam-crowned creeper
AnimalPlant Family: Kelp/Ivy
Description: A coastal plant found in more shallow waters, the foam-crowned creeper is known for it's tendency to poke out of the surface of the ocean in the largest plants, appearing in some locations to ride alongside waves. It also has a remarkably fast generation cycle, necessary due to sea life's tendency to separate root from stem.
Size: Plant
Traits: Tall, semi-amphibious, minimally buoyant (to stay straight up), fast generations, vulnerable

Name: Bullet Fin
Animal Family: Fish
Description: A small fish with a very thick and solid bump on it's forehead that can dart through the water. It uses its speed and its bump to take out prey
Size: 4 inches
Traits: Rocky bump on forehead. Very fast speed.

Fish: Beaked Lumper
Description: Unique only for it's hard beak-like mouth, which is used to fight for mates and to scrape off plant matter from rocks and break through shells of smaller mollusks and crustaceans. In most other ways it is quite generic, though colorful.
Traits: Beaky

Name: Sol-Pesce
Animal family: Fish
Description: Green lines down the sides of this fish are it's distinctive markings that it uses to blend into algae patches and sneak attack it's prey.
Size: a quarter meter
Traits: stealth/ambush

You could, with lots of points, develop photosynthesis. It would be very difficult for an animal to do so though. Same with a plant to develop a digestive tract. I guess you could have photosynthesis as your food source, but that would mean you couldn't eat like a normal fish (and you'd have various other plant maluses.)

Name: Plantrap
Description: A medium sized plant about 1/3 a meter long, lives in the deep by eating fish and other creatures that wander around and try to eat it
Size:1/3 meter
Traits: ambush predator

Name: Tardus Jelly
Animal Family: Jellyfish
Description: A deep-sea dwelling Jellyfish, which is transparent. It can spray it's dark black excretment through small openings in it's tentacles, which it excretes into. It has a lifespan of about 2-3 hours. It is also quite fast, due to the fact it's bell is 3 millimeters in height and diameter. Aside from this, it is mostly a regular Jellyfish.
Size: 3 millimeters (in bell height and diameter.)
Traits: Asexual reproduction, Ink defense mechanism, Extremely short lifespan, Fast. [/spoiler]

(3mm is incredibly tiny. Do you mean 3cm?)

Submission
Name: Shallow Cruster
Plant Family: Ancestral Fern-like seedless vascular plants.  (Kelp-like)
Description: The Shallow Cruster, appropriately enough, lives in the shallows where light is plentiful.  During its life cycle, the cruster extracts calcium from the surrounding water and exudes it as layers of calcium carbonate (limestone, and the principal ingredient of mollusc and crustacean shells) and thin sealants of protein.  This takes the appearance of a glassy, translucent cone around the base of the plant.  As an added evolution, the plant stalk has a very primitive active defence - when damaged, released chemicals trigger a sudden contraction of plant tissues, resulting in the stalk shrinking temporarily back into the cone where it is anchored.  This is far from perfect, as long-nosed creatures can still eat them, or heavy creatures smash the cones and devour them.

Crusters spread when they are damaged by predators or environmental stresses and pieces of them break off.  The damaged fragments find purchase elsewhere, and if conditions are right grow into new crusters.

Sometimes, where predation is heavy, one can find plateaus dotted with hundreds upon hundreds of tiny, hollow cones that once contained crusters.  Eventually these are broken down by tidal action or heavy creatures.  Where crusters persist for a very long time, they tend to root atop older, abandoned cones, gradually raising the shallow sea bed over hundreds and thousands of years.
Size: 3 cm cone height, 5 cm cone diameter, 5 cm full plant height when extended.
Traits: Photosynthetic, protective cone, retracts when damaged.  Totipotent.

Token NPC
Name: Splot
Animal Family: Hagfish (Myxini)
Description: A rather unpleasant slime-covered creature with a long, eel-like body, eyespots, a skull and a circular array of teeth.  Tend to burrow into larger fish and devour them from within.
Size: 15 cm
Traits: Slimy, simple.

Name: Lemmiding
Animal Family: Mollusks
Description: a small cucumberlike snail, which slithers over the ocean floor
Size:2-5cm
Traits: Difficult to spot

Name: Virin
Animal family: fish
Description: A darkly scaled fish with a large mouth, meant for eating smaller fish. It uses its four paddle like limbs to catch up on its prey.
Size: 50cm
Traits: Scaled, fast

Maybe we could instead have the Baac-Dreh be strong psionically, but with weak bodies? If we did, we'd have to give them long-term memory, due to losing their previous shtick. Instead of being parasites, they'd be filter-feeders or something.

*slow clap* Well ATHATH congratulations. You managed to give the MC a mental breakdown before we even finished the first arc.

What do you include in psyonics?
Classic psionics (telepathy, telekinesis, mental domination), which, after some evolution, would eventually progress to around the versatility level of the force, which, after even more evolution, would probably progress to D&D (3.5) levels of versatility and power.

I honestly liked them as body snatchers better, psyonics can't be explained biologically, so I'm not sure how to handle them without them being too strong.

Not by our biology, certainly.

Might be a form of subsonics or supersonics or the like. Or, as I think of it for the subtle stuff, sub-conscious stuff that's become trained to be better. Like how you feel like somebody's watching you. It's stuff like hearing their breathing or the air currents in the room; consciously, you don't notice it. Subconsciously...

Could also be a form of pheromones that affect the brain directly...a combination of all that stuff...unless you're going for telekinesis, then it can be explained as basically just any method that can interface with or take over the neural pathways of other organisms, or predict sequences of events based on hyper-fine details that would be nigh impossible to notice consciously.

Bur anyway, yeah, unlikely.

Minor clairvoyance, telepathy, mental interfacing, seem reasonable enough. Nigh-literally magic, less so.

Well, the more advanced stuff is late game. It would be available when we start building civilizations and stuff.

Yeah, but they then have the advantage of being more mentally powerful when mental stuff is coming into it's own. They don't need magic on top of that. And that's what telekinesis/the force would be.

I think psionics are a no for this game. I just can't see them being fair unless everyone had them. I briefly flirted with the idea of making a magical evolution game, but made this one instead when I saw that II was dead.
