Amadou put a shortcut to adult literacy classes videos on the rooms' screen main menu. I imagine it'd be also for foreigners, as he'd know we've been talking through the translator program.

Occasionally reading and catching up with Foxhound makes me wonder where does Akras get their monkeys from and when they will run out. Tal's experimentations seem very expensive in terms of monkey souls.

During the 003 Castle Raid, they bought em in bulk from an external company. However currently Akras just prints em out as clones. Nowhere near as many monkeys are getting used compared to the thousands that got used in the raid.

A mindless clone will not have a soul. It would just be raw  lifeforce with a high quality Vessel.

A clone grown in a manner that gives it a mind gives it the potential to develop a soul. The more solid the sense of Self, the faster it develops. The more experiences available, the more energy it holds. A monkey in a zoo is worth more than a monkey in a cage. Even if they are the same age. One simply has more varied experiences and is therefore more energy.

So by that standard quickly cloned monkey doesn't have very impressive soul at all. Assuming no special stimulation is provided during its time in cloning vats.

Said standard soul is still significantly more in comparison to lets say a bucket of bugs. Or a monkey brain in a jar. Soul's gotta have a quality vessel to have room to grow.

It wouldn't actually have a quality vessel and would prevent a quality soul from forming.

That and a brain needs an external basis to hallucinate anything quality in the first place. Can't hallucinate that you don't have hands if you never had hands in the first place after all.
