Not to mention longterm problems. I mean. If it's affecting the brain. Something must be breaking.

Perhaps we can simply not talk about the possibility of long term problems. For the sake of gaming, of course.

Or maybe only keep it for character epilogue?

Maybe have it lower skills, to represent brain damage? That makes it less "Get out of jail free", more "OH SHIT IF I DON'T I'M GOING TO DIE"

I agree. The serum sounds like something that convict soldiers would use, not a Private Military Corporation. If the PMC had convict soldiers, then they would likely use it. But we are not convict soldiers AFAIK

Also maybe addiction as a side affect? That way it would be hard to stop more brain damage from happening.

Yeah, something for a desperate situation sounds nice

Also, your company isn't even PMC or even militarized. Just rich.

So in a way,  unpaid interns might be even more disposable than convicts, seeing how many people are so desperate for work in this fucked up world.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that Zach was not unpaid, nor was he an intern. He was a certified systems analyst on a semi-high payroll

Ok. How's about this

ML 10-gives the user -1 to all intelligence/concentration checks for an hour after
ML 20-2 Int/Conc for about a day
ML30- Stays the same

Also, how's about Frazz is immune to the int and Conc penalties, (due to extensive self application) at the cost of becoming somewhat unstable for a while after. Also, Frazz did invent this particular serum. Others made Mega-Aldrenalin and whatnot, but this is Frazzes Baby

Also, I imagine our corporation similar to weyland-yutami from Alien, or Vault Tec from Fallout. Big, owns everything, and not concerned with pesky things like Ethics.

...None of those are really balancing for the effects, I think.

Not balanced at all.

Yeah. I meant like permanent skill damage. Like, say Aria took one, there would be a good chance of her losing her First Aid skill, and have to either live with it or waste EXP on regaining it.

Yes,

How about each time you uses the drug, the GM [me] rolls a dice to decide how bad the drawback's going to be?
If the roll was really good, all you get might just be a bad headache, if the roll was really bad, you might lose a skill permanently and have to live with it or spend EXP to regain it!

So that way it's not a certain bad, but definitely will need you to think before actually using it and only keep it for dire situations. That seems balanced enough?

Otherwise if you want people to do stuff faster and so while focusing less on the delicate brain and more on the durable body, then we can just use an adrenaline cocktail injection and stuff to increase strength and speed and reaction time briefly for something more manageable like muscle tears and so on.

Ok, i agree with what VK said, with two exceptions:
Losing an ENTIRE skill seems a bit drastic. Like, at most it should be a penalty like -10 to make rolls near impossible. Also, Catatonic state should be the worst one.
Also, I want Frazz to have a built-in tolerance for the drug. I like the idea of him experimenting on himself and gaining immunity, but not actually realizing how he did it. Basically, i would want him to suffer n o adverse effects, except for brief extreme eccentricity and loss of Logic, which i promise will be played out accurately.

It's directly fucking with the brain. You're gonna have longterm brain damage.

The only way I can see that the long ter effects won't effect you as heavily is a dependency on it that allows you to act as though you were normal, while on it, but have the penalties while off.

I still feel iffy about giving one Player a 'get out of jail free' card while the others doesn't, so to say. Everyone else would suffer from using the drug, why should I give you a special case of not suffering from it as well like all the others?
