..That's not how deorbiting works.

Detatching a rod from the superstructure would not deorbit. It would continue to orbit around the planet without drifting much if at all. To deorbit something you need to put significant Delta-V into it.

I was referring to the rods, not the superstructure. I'm aware of the difference.

Yes. And if a Rod was detached from the superstructure. The Rod wouldn't just magically deorbit. It would continue to orbit with minimal drifting.

If push comes to shove, Akras can just ram a bunch of drones into it from the side to steer it away enough.

Plus Akras don't really give a shit about the rest of the world, as long as they're not falling on a potential gold mind both literal and metaphorical.

Again, Akras are not good people.

I didn't know they could prevent impact. That's what I needed to know.

Could Akras build Monsoon's body?

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Monsoon#Powers_and_Abilites

It doesn't have to have the ability to fling around cars and stuff, but the rest of the abilities.

Unrealistic to have a splitting body like that. You'd need a power generator in each section. And then you'd be exposing each section to intense magnetic fields, which is the anathema to any complex computer. And you'd need to find a way to get the separate bits to communicate unwired without interference or jamming being possible while also dealing with the magnets.

Not plausible.

I don't think a highly skilled enchanter would spend the weeks needed on such an impractical project.

So are the Gaeans speaking Terran, or are the Terrans speaking Gaean? I assume the former, what with Akras being the way it is, but just to be sure.

The Gaians are speaking their respective languages and the Terrans are speaking Terran. There are translator programs translating the conversation in realtime.

Ah. So if they can translate audio, why don't they make translating visors? I realize that translating audio is very different than video, but from what I've heard it doesn't sound too far out there for Akras

Visual translation exists. However frankly, would you really want the backwater savages to continue using their filthy archaic tongues and not learn proper civilized common?

Fair enough. I had temporarily forgotten about Akras's famous "Our way or die" policy.
