There is no way that Zander could've known the existence of Gate Teams. Akras didn't exactly went about advertising their Trans-dimensional gate project, after all.
And as Tal have demonstrated, any leaks were treated with the people who got leaked to being erased entirely as if they never existed and the leaker suffering a worse fate.
So how'd Zander know about the Gate Teams and joined?

Also Pre-gate Akras already have the required medical treatments that can cure Max.
Post-Gate Akras even more so now that magic exists and is a thing, they can literally clone Max a new body then pull her soul into the new body, disposing of the old one and give her a new, Biologically-enhanced body that is better than the baseline human in every single way and form with all of the same Max in it due to her soul having been moved. She wouldn't even need to know that the body she's in isn't the one she's born with!

Unlikely, it wouldn't survive. Can't get there without the gate or an Entity, and no Entity would give two shit about some random mundane human in a coma. Maybe one would for shits and giggles but they'd be too impulsive and bored to really make a complex enough plan as to bring said mind to Gateside.
