Tal decides its about time to cash in on assorted things and files the first several reports he's been lazy about.

Spoiler: Souls: Storage (click to show/hide)

Unsurprisingly. Natural materials that do not demonstrate arcane properties preform poorly when used to store Souls. cut jewels preform somewhat better than rock, yet are otherwise rather useless. Interestingly, Souls treat Quartz as if it isn't even there, the metaphysical reason behind such is unknown at the current time.

Glass interestingly enough stores souls quite well. The purer, the better. A pure glass marble with the right enchantments [Listed in ONS-483] forms an excellent, space efficient storage for souls, however I would not recommend storing the soul of a sapient in one at the current time. Or at least. Not without proper testing.

As it is. Ensouled marbles make for an excellent powersource for any given Magi in the absence of an IHSS-MK3 Reactor and are seemingly usable as improvised explosives with a fairly nice blast radius. The specific effects of the explosions have yet to be determined.

Recommending mass production of Ensouled Marbles for purchase by Magi and use in the field. See ONS-483 for production diagram.

Spoiler: Amalgams: Early Experiments (click to show/hide)

As you may or may not have noticed by now. There are a number of former interns running around the compounds with behaviors and traits of certain animals. This log isn't about them. This is about the process that led to their creation. See Doctor Vahlen's autopsy reports on AMLG-0001-AMLG-0003 for details on the biology.

An Amalgam is a merging of two distinct Beings. Mind, Body, and Soul. The 'parent' Beings cease existing during the process and the output created is an Amalgam.

AMLG-0001, the first Being created from this process was frankly. A mess. Shuddering and wheezing. Possibly in constant agony. It required a vat to be moved. AMLG-0001 did not demonstrate sapience. Otherwise uninteresting.

AMLG-0002 demonstrated the capacity to speak. Albeit in a limited fashion. It seemed capable of mobility in a limited fashion. As well as appeared capable of sustaining itself longer than a few hours unlike AMLG-0001. A tad uncanny to the mundanes however.

AMLG-0003 demonstrated full cognizance. Capacity to communicate in complex sentences, higher emotional capacity. Capacity for mobility. Did not demonstrate pain from moving. Notably is that the human origin mind held dominance and did not merge with the feline mind properly, resulting in a rejection of Self. An innately unstable creature was produced as a result. Subject was terminated in autopsy before the end result of the unstable mentality and physical form could be determined. Possibly for the best. The projected blast yield of the souls of several monkeys, a cat, and a human is quite large.

Recommendation: Experiment with AMLG-0003 styled instabilities at an offsite location, see what happens when they come apart.

Spoiler: Voidic Feline: Preliminary Analysis: (click to show/hide)

Voidic Felines are Voidic based Entities. They are formed from Null. A Lack. The Antithesis of existence. They, as with certain other Voidic entities

For unknown reasons, numerous lesser Voidic Entities seem to prefer the form of Terran felines. Specifically the form of the domestic housecat. This would be curious on its own, however recorded inscriptions from Agent Frazz's exploration of LOI-00046 on Gaia revealed inscriptions of cats, among other things. Although we cannot confirm the discovery of felines on Gaia at the current time, this implies something purrticularly strange is going on. Pardon the pun.

Voidic Felines have demonstrated the capacity to use their state of Null as a weapon. Quite capable of severing fingers without resistance. Interestingly, no pain is received from this form of damage, possible use of effect in painless surgery?

Voidic Felines have demonstrated the capacity to float. Given, the laws of reality don't quite apply to them so the only reason they're moving with the planet's frame of reference is because they either desire to or believe they should be.

Voidic Felines have demonstrated the capacity to spontaneously generate items out of Nowhere. Such as hats or similar accessories. It is unknown if this is intentional or a result of memetic perception of cognizant beings reflecting upon them.

Voidic Felines have demonstrated that they can consume food items from Existence with no harmful side effects.

Voidic Felines across the board have demonstrated catlike behavior. Although they do tend to stare a bit deeper than normal cats.

Recommendation: Don't anger the cats. They can attack with Null and therefore potentially have other ways to utilize Null. Investigate for potential applications in combat and medicine.

"Theoretically yes. Take one hand have R&D coat it with iron and then fire it on the range."

"With the size of the marbles, they could make an OK cluster bomb. I have a hundred millimeters of diameter to work with, multiply by three and a bit gives me three-fourteen area, another multiplication gives my total capacity. Even on the lowest recoil setting, I'd be knocked forward from such a light load of just one. If you can give me a bag of them, I'll have R&D make a lightweight shell, weighing a fifth of full load when filled with marbles. That way the recoil settings don't have to be tweaked."

D001 Plate Assessment

While D001 Combat Plate has been tested in the lab, and its effectiveness cannot be denied. Combat truly tests gear all its drawbacks and pluses, as such I am submitting two personal encounters while on mission. It is my hope that this report proves enlightening.
-
Gaian Exploratory Mission 001:
In the process of clearing UH Settlement 00001, I was shot with Anomalous Gaian Artifact 00001. A Akras rifle that while old was still effective, and if not for the DOO1 Plate I would not have gotten away with only a broken rib.
While debilitating it is far better than it shredding my insides. Since it is now that more of these artifacts exist, squads that deal with villages and towns are recommend to be on guard and sport D001 plate.

-
NG Artillery Mission:
In the short engagement with a National guard encampment, an engagement that was mostly one sided. One of the massive artillery cannons took aim at the team medic and cyborg Jon was targeted. While durable not even his body could handle the shell.
When the shell tore through his body, his DOO1 Plate shattered and fragmented. Causing serve damage to those afflicted myself included, having already received injuries it tore through full Exo and shattered my good leg.
It also tore into the exposed neck of another squad member Jenny. She perished shortly afterward, and was later revived at headquarters. If you want more details see Mission Report “Siege Breakers”.

Recommendations
-   The effectiveness of D001 cannot be overstated, and is recommend for all experienced gate teams. As it can handle most threats and turn life threatening damage to only extremely painful.
-   And while there is a risk of D001 shattering causing shrapnel, the risk is remote and the benfits far outweigh it.
-   Finally, that a grenade be created with D001 pieces inside, its effectiveness as shrapnel is extreme and would increase the deadliness of our frags and other explosives tenfold. 

Potions

In examining the various new plants Gaia has to offer, quite simply I’ve created potions. That is to say they are elixirs of such strength that they are reminiscent of potions in many video games. It is my hope that these elixirs can be improved upon with time and new ones be found. Because the benefits are frankly astounding, here are a few examples.

-   Maximum or as it is affectionately called “Max” by the Interns is a stimulant of unheard of strength. One would have to have overdose on adrenaline to even get close to the effectiveness of this drug. It allows one to perform at frankly superhuman levels for five minutes at a time. The draw back being the after effect on the body. It is recommended for only emergencies as it wears out the body.

-   Simply named “Outlast” it is a tea that allows one to operate at maximum efficiency without ever feeling tired or strained. One could sprint for miles and not feel the effects of the running at all. It quite simply allows one to remain combat effective, despite fatigue and injuries. It is recommended for long engagements where sleep, fatigue and other factors start becoming a factor. It has the same risks as Maximum, the added danger is that you can’t feel the pain. 


-   A healing potion it able to mend small wounds when applied and when drank it can heal injuries throughout the body slowly. For more serious injuries seek medical attention as per usual. This is simply Band-Aid for smaller injuries.


-   Codename “Atlas” it is quite simply one of my most amazing discoveries. It is literally capable of increasing animals to 10 times their natural intelligence. So much so that the first two subjects are record holders for speed running HL3. See file “Clint and Roxane” for further details, the applications are simply enormous. Think mouse spy’s, snake assassins, Hawk scouts, Gorilla heavies, and so on. It is recommended that animals be treated as regular employees, see file “Planet of the Apes” for reasons why. Clinical testing on humans is ongoing but looking promising, more information to come.

That Intern that has been taking Zander's intelligence uplifting potion are showing signs of rapid development in the intelligence part, currently they're on part to an average R&D Scientist in critical-thinking Board games such as Chess, Monopoly and Pachinko.

Intern Subject have started speaking in a more sophisticated accent, has increased vocabulary and shows agitations when unable to speak their mind fast enough.

They also now have fondness towards dear stalking hats.
