"This baby's got over 600 horsepower to drive some 19-something tonne. We can definitely try." A. Carmine said with an eager grin, oh he can practically taste the money already.

Aria, of course, complies. "I would suggest going back to check if there was anything in the basement, but I'm out of Gauss rounds and I happen to not be suicidal.

Speaking of which, I don't think anyone will disagree with spending some of our pay to reload this thing?"

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

"No arguments here."

Ready my rifle and prepare to go the basement, don't go in alone.

You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.

"Nah. I don't see a need to check the basement either. We got the artifact, and we made it though this whole thing with barely even a scratch. Hell, if I remember from the records, we may be, like, the first team to make it in, grab the artifact, and make it out with no losses. Our names would go down in history."

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

They decide that they didn't get paid enough for this..

"Arthur, I just said I'm out of Gauss. If basically anything shows up that can't be taken down by small arms, we're dead. We should just go."

"Weren't we trying to get in one when the first knight showed up? Or maybe the adrenaline rush from the last while is messing with my memory."

"Eh, I don't care either way, but the most we'll find in the basement is another sample so let's just go home."

"Right then. Once we hitch that big thing on the APC, let's go."

It is agreed that the squad extracts from the AO. Slowly, weighted down by all the everything you've brought, your Vehicle lugs you all along, dragging the much-too-large-to-strap-on snake monster that have conveniently got itself stuck on your vehicle.

There shall be several turns of travelling to let everyone debrief together, discuss what to do and/or celebrate before you get back to the gate and go earn your hard-earned rewards.

"Methinks we should see if we can pick up some junior operatives and a medic or two before next mission."

"Definitely more ammo though."

"With amazing achievement as ours, Perhaps our superiors would even allow us a bigger squad? more people with more guns!" Maximus said in hope, his eyes glistening.

"I'd like a bigger gun." Jenny mentioned passingly.

"Don't know about you guys, but we might just retire or something." A. Carmine said back from his driver's seat.

"Yeah, this was already way too close." B. Carmine nodded, tapping the sharp scythe that's poking from the roof.
