The girl is still being held back by a wiznerd so she won't run out to her mother, And Zach is still attempting to communicate with her and still failing as she kept screaming and trying to bite him. You can tell the wiznerd to bring her back into the keep where all the other villagers are, though. But if she's let go, she'll definitely run to her mother and see her being drained of life in some unholy black magic circle.

Zach waves his hand and mentally conveys that he is a friend. He shows her an image of her reaching greatness with hundreds bowing before her, of her sitting on a throne, images of greatness, and that she will only achieve that state by taking his hand. He plays on her fears and attempts to glean anything, especially her name, from her mind.


He also tries more subtle methods, trying to glean the names of brothers, aunts, uncles, siblings.

Vigil will actually just walk over and pick up the little girl, letting her hit and bite him as much as she wants, and he carries her over with the rest of the civilians, and just sits among them. Any time any one of them tries to take her from him, he will hold up his hand to stop them, and tell them to sit.
He will continue to do so, until she runs out of energy and either falls into a crying fit, in which case, he will pat her back as reassuringly as he can, or, if she falls asleep, he will just hold her close and walk around with her. At which point, if anyone tries to take her, he will pull out his small sword.
