"Main reason for just using a Gauss here however is it needing to be downed asap due to melee range. If it were outside of melee range, I would fully endorse testing the minimum force required to kill it."

While you were discussing the possibility of capturing the enemy, it rips it's spear back against the hatch, along with the hatch itself, now stuck on it's spear like some sort of an improvised shield.

"Whatever you've got planned you gotta do it quick!" Maximus said, still got his shotgun trained on the opening,

Vigil, slams his smg to his hip, pulling out his sword and preparing for the worst that the jolly giant had to offer.

"ONE gauss round and then, if it doesn't work, we back up, right? I would hate it, but much less than becoming an ornament on his spear."

Aria had been switching weapons and taking aim while the conversation happened, and now fires the gauss at the thing with the spear.

The Gauss rifle fired, delivering a crack as it's large bullet broke the sound barrier the moment it made it's exit from the barrel, sending clouds of dust to scatter away from the sheer force delivered.

The over-engineered bullet that was designed to shoot at tanks have absolutely no problem smashing through the wooden hatch, which exploded from the immense force behind the large bullet, it kept going and hit the thing behind. It's force collapsing it's metal plate inwards as if punched by the fist of an angry god.

The large monstrous knight is thrown off of it's feet and into the air as the Gauss finally made it's way out the back of it's plate armor, blood and gore exploded out from the exit the bullet made.

The bullet kept going and punched through the stone ceiling that happens to be in the way, and presumably out of the keep proper, never to be found again.

The large daemonic knight crashes into the stone floor on his back, kicking up dust and ceases to move.

Critical hit!

Yes, yes there are indeed incoming hostiles. You can see it on Thermal, on X-ray, on Infrared.. Looks humanoid, solid, you can hear their fleshy footsteps. There's four of them running towards the the stairs down which you are all in from the other flight of stairs leading up!

Vigil, being the one who decided to go cut the Knight's head off, gets a very good look at the incoming hostile. Their speed are fast but not supernaturally so. Their right arms deformed into a sharp, long metallic blade, or perhaps they merged with one, it matters little.

What matters, though, are their faces. Oh god their faces, there's teeth everywhere! And that blood curdling screams!

Vigil suffers a fright penalty, he's now 'shaken' and is suffering a 1 point in rolls.
He also did not manage to cut the Knight's head off, since it will require some careful and creative sawing with his sword in the joints, and clearly you've no time for that while being engaged by 4 literal sword-armed monsters.

"More Daemons!" Maximus warned as he runs up the stair to help support Vigil, letting go of his Shotgun and letting it dangles against him with the strap as he takes out his two-handed War hammer.

Aria turns to where they are coming from, still ready with the Gauss rifle, and waits either to be ordered to retreat or for the monsters to show their faces- and promptly to blast those faces off.

"Open fire, no Gauss for these, Vigil and Max, get back and use your guns. These are not something you want to try stabbing."

Tal opens fire with his SMG. Preparing to switch to his pistol if his smg ammo runs out.

"Won't have time for a second shot!" Maximus replied back as he heaves his hammer into a ready stance, readied to give the incoming creatures a big swing.

Tal's SMG bullets digs deep and tore into the sword-armed things, sending splatters of dark red ichors flying all over the place.

It did not seems to slow the monsters down so much, as they still screeches loudly, bringing their sword arm up, they uses the metal bits as a shield of sort, giving them some protections from the small bullets that pings off of their blades, blocked from hitting something vital.

With that speed, the four of them will be upon Vigil and Maximus next turn!
