Hello and welcome to YggdrasilCraft, a brand-new server for Minecraft multiplayer. We look forward to your playing and enjoying out server. However. We're not yet ready to let you go on your epic adventure. So while we setup, what I've decided is this: we'll have a contest for players of Minecraft who like to build. You'll have two weeks from the Youtube announcement ( subscribe to my channel here ) to create an epic creation. At the end of two weeks, myself and a closed panel of judges will examine all your works and pick the ones we like best. These will be used and showcased in the spawn area for the main server and the builder will receive a Youtube shout-out with a plug to their channel, if they so wish. ( A Youtube channel is not required for this contest, all that's required is a Minecraft account and an internet connection. )

Please read the rules below. Any violation of these rules will not be tolerated. Mechanisms will be judged separately from constructions. For the purposes of these rules "mechanism" is defined as any component which has multiple states determined by time or a trigger, utilizes mechanisms or utilizes redstone components beyond redstone lamps. This includes redstone lamps which can be turned on or off and includes jukeboxes or note blocks. Just for clarity's sake, any component using the following is a mechanism: hoppers, droppers, dispensers, tripwires, minecarts, redstone comparators, levers, buttons, pressure plates, pistons, sticky pistons, redstone logic, or automated control of liquid flow.

Ethics:

• Don't be evil
• Deal with it or go away. (ie If you don't like my rules, don't play on my server, simple as that.)
• No hate group or gang symbols. There is a zero tolerance for this.
• No politically charged content. This is up to the discression of moderators.
• No lewd or pornographic content. This server needs to be as friendly for a 9-year-old as an 18-year-old
• No spamming, harrassing, bullying, etc.
• Comply with, to the best of your ability, the Minecraft guidelines and Terms of Services
• Religious imagery/symbols is fine as long as it's nothing controversial. (ie provoking a religion by intentional misuse of their symbolism or explicitly showing violent acts. Religion, history, modern society, and pretty much all of life has dark elements, but causing strife or invoking fear in an unprepared/immature mind is not the goal of this server.) This is up to the discression of moderators and no further investigation will be done, if you're suspected or reported of doing something inappropriate, you will be disqualified. We want to include as many facets of life as possible, but we don't want a negative experience for contestants or visitors.
• As a particular caveat to the above: Showing any religious figure in a negative or satirical light, even if deserved, won't be tolerated. For one thing, it's almost never deserved and for another I don't want to get murdered by zealots.
• Same as above for politics and politicians with the exception of Hillary Clinton, cos I just plain hate her.
• Supporting Vermin Love Supreme for president in 2016 is fine, but using him to try and win will result in being instantly being moved to honorable mentions because the lulz factor is too d*** high.
• Using internet memes is discouraged for the same reason, but good use of memeage will make honorable mention. Memes will not win a prize though.
• Memoriams to dead people may result in disqualification or honorable mention, depending on taste and detail, but will not be judged for winning either way.
• Discussion is fine, but don't curse. I'll have censorship plugs in place, but everyone knows that these can be broken by persistent folks. Don't be that guy. You will get kicked or banned.
• No explicit drug references. ( ie, Building a rainbow unicorn is fine, but building a giant syringe is not. )
  
• No references to sexuality or gender politics, no matter which side of the fence you're on. This is almost always flamebait even if you don't intend it to be.
• No copyrighted material unless you can prove it complies with US fair use laws. ( It should in most cases, but if I get a DMCA from some ******, I will have no choice but to disqualify and remove the content, which I don't want. Besides creativity is key. )
• Do not engage trolls: report them. Engaging trolls could result in you getting disqualified and banned. That'd be sad.
• Especially don't white knight, SJW, or mini-mod. If you have a problem, talk to a mod. If the mod says it's not a problem just use the ignore features to block out the person in question. If that's not good enough for you: DEAL WITH IT.
• Do not harass or argue with a mod. It's just stupid. Their decisions have force of law during this contest and I personally vetted every mod.
• Asking for moderator or operator status, even in jest, will cause an instant kick. These statuses are earned.
• Repeatedly doing so will lead to being banned and blacklisted from all my servers.
• Attempts at griefing will most likely be stymied by the plugins, but if you manage to circumvent this you will be banned and blacklisted immediately.

Building Regulations and Contest Rules

• If you use multiple players on a construction, you must mark your plot as a team entry and put a sign for each player. (See step-by-step guide or instructional video.)
• Do not claim more than 10 plots. Only claim a plot after you are finished with your previous entry.
• No building structures out of TNT and all fluids (water or lava) must be contained. In the main server TNT will be permitted under certain circumstances but to avoid lag and griefing, I cannot allow any structures made of TNT to be used.
• Mechanisms and redstone are amazing and welcome, but all triggers (buttons, levers, pressure plates, etc. ) must be readily apparent, labeled, and demonstratable, and the circuit must function repeatedly with no maintenence.
• If a mechanism is heavily expected of causing lag, it will be disqualified. The server on which this building contest is hosted is identical in resources to the main server, so if it causes problem here it cannot be allowed to cause problems in the main server.
• Hoppers, droppers, and dispensers in particular must be shown to function automatically without causing lag or needing to be manually refilled.
• Minecart constructions (e.g. Roller coasters, certain redstone clock circuits ) must be contained within your plot and function automatically with no more than two triggers. They must also be collision proof if it's possible to do so.
• Traps ( any construction which intentionally or accidentally harms a survival player ) are strictly prohibited.
• Tripwire is permitted if, and only if, it can be proven to be more functionally viable than a pressure plate. This will require special judging and a sign reading "TRIPWIRE USED" must be placed in all corners of your plot along with a construction of two gold blocks and three redstone blocks stacked vertically. IF NOT, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
• No mechanism can rely on or utilize entrapped mobs. They must all run automatically or by player trigger.
• Lava is strictly forbidden for usage in mechanisms. Water is permitted as long as it doesn't cause lag.
• Usage of paintings, item frames, vines, and some other wall decorations are totally fine but due to issues with world edit must be marked. The method for marking the use of these will be the same as the method for marking the use of tripwire except that the sign will read "SPECIAL USED" and then specify which block you used on additional lines. Then you'll construct a stack of two gold blocks and three lapis lazuli blocks. This is so that we can properly copy your construction into the spawn zone of the main server should you win. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
• Final rule: I'm trusting you, so be trustworthy. Respect these rules and report all suspected infarctions to the moderators. Abuse of this system for purposes of sabotaging competitors will result in a permanent ban and blacklisting from all of my servers, present and future.

There are three categories here, from which will be picked ten winners each. The top five constructions for each category will be implemented somewhere near the spawn area of the main server, with credit given to the creators. The categories are Solo building, Mechanisms, and Team building. Mechanisms, regardless of whether they were built in a team or alone will be judged in their category. If at any point you allow another player to assist you in anyway you must immediately credit them and mark your plot as a team entry, this includes mechanisms. By entering you agree to abide by the rules above. If for any reason you don't want to be judged for winner or have your construction used in the main server you must mark your plot with a sign saying non entry and construct a soul sand marking pillar. ( A marking pillar is a construction on the edge of your plot that quickly tells moderators and judges important things about your entry. If you've read the rules, you already know what the lapis lazuli and redstone block marking pillars stand for. Click below for examples and what they mean. )

A lapis lazuli marking pillar: Marks the use of certain blocks known or suspected to cause problems with [my version of] WorldEdit. ( Paintings, item frames, ladders, and vines. ) This is just to make sure we can preserve your construction during copying to the main server.

A redstone block marking pillar: Marks the use of tripwire, which has some special restrictions in usage.

A soul sand marking pillar: Indicates that you do not want this entry judged or used on the main server in any way. It will be ineligible even for honorable mention. Failure to build one of these means that you agree to allow me to showcase your creation on my server, my Youtube channel and any other media on which I publish, and to copy it to any of my servers, provided that I credit you by your Minecraft username and any other identification you provide. (e.g. Planet Minecraft account, Bay12 account, Youtube account, etc. )

Instructions for playing:
Follow the rules and regulations above, join the server at the follwing IP: 69.175.45.141, type "/plotme auto" to automatically get your plot. This is all the building space you'll have to use. It's small, yes, but space is a premium in a spawn zone. Put down signs and marking pillars according to the rules and what category you wish to enter. If you need help, feel the rules are being broken, etc. private message a moderator. ( They are the people with red names. ) Do not ask for resources, the game's already in creative. Multiple entries are fine, but only one will get to be on the winner's list and only one will get to be on the honorable mentions. Please don't claim a ridiculous amount of plots though. Assume we use the default texture pack when you're building.

Step 1:
Launch Minecraft

Select Multiplayer

Step 3:
Click "Add Server"

Step 4:
Type "YggdrasilCraft Building Contest" for server name and paste the server IP or type it as shown.

Step 5: Double click or click "Join server" to login.

Step 6: Press "t" and type "/plotme auto"

Step 7: Set up your plot. Put signs as shown below:
If competing as a solo builder:

( The second line must be your Minecraft name. To get the Youtube shoutout, the third line must be your Youtube channel. The fourth line can be whatever you like, for example your Bay12 or Planet Minecraft username. )
If competing as a building team:

( Replace "Ygg" with your team name or leave blank for no team name. )

Step 8: If building a team construction type "/plotme add <playername>" to allow another player to build with you. Make sure to update your signs accordingly and have a contestant sign for each player who builds on that plot!  (Note: Only team up with people you trust, we cannot help you rebuild if you get griefed, only ban the griefing player. Also, in general we trust you to work out differences amongst yourselves and will only intervene if there is a problem that affects all contestants. Usually, our intervention means disqualification, though this'll be on a three strike system for anything not covered by the rules. )
Step 9: Build your awesome construction.

Step 10: Press "t" and type "/plotme done"

Step 11: If the contest isn't over yet and you want to build more, you may enter another construction by repeating Steps 6-10. However, there will be only one winning entry per person in each category and you can't have more than 10 entries total.
Step 12: If you just want to build and for any reason don't want to be judged, put in the honorable mentions, have your construction featured on my youtube channel, or have your construction on the main server in anyway at any time please build a Soul Sand marker pillar ( See Marking pillars ) on the edge of your plot where it can be plainly seen to let us know.
Step 13: Wait. I will announce the top ten winners in each category and show off their constructions on my channel. The top five in each category will get to see their constructions on my main server!

At the end of two weeks from the date of the Youtube announcement, the competition will end and the server will go dark for judging. After that the winners and honorable mentions will be featured on my Youtube channel and the top five entries in each category will be implemented in my server. Both are modded. The contest server is pretty vanilla beyond protections against griefing and such, but the main server has goodies of various sorts: Factions, an Economy, Multiple Worlds, Minigames, etc.
