Here To Play?Regretfully we can't support any new characters at the moment, as players in-game are currently sitting around waiting to be of any use due to overpopulation. Please inbox any character application sheets to me via PM.
We were aboard a military craft to the moon of Saturn, Titan. During our travel something went awfully, awfully wrong.
The alert system kicked in and we marched orderly, confused faces, buzzing chatter and questions about, to our emergency pods.
Helga, the onboard Artificial Intelligence, woke us with a single, terrifying, resounding fact; the year
was 3223 - a thousand years later from when we left home and a thousand years of drifting.
We are lost, we are alone and we are wounded.
The ship's solar array is damaged, we are low on power and our oxygen is running thin.
We are far from home and we don't know where we are... aptly we call it... Sector Unknown.
You are one of a number of surviving crew members on your ship.
Your ship needs to survive - physically and energetically.
Survive, Fight, Upgrade, Adapt, Develop, perhaps even Settle - but most importantly, explore.
Resources are rare, disease and weird alien shit happens, and most importantly you can die. There is permadeath.
As a crew member among other players, you need to work together or against each other for the betterment of the many, or the survival of the few.
Private Message each other to work out secret alliances and launch a coup, or work publicly to help everyone.
Launch ground-level campaigns to find food and materials to fuel your needs and your ship.
All crew can Roleplay, discuss and decide on what happens - but it is the captain's decision in certain events and crisis's which is final and shapes the path of the story.
Glossary?A "Box of Materials" (BoM) is the base currency for constructing things. A Box of Materials is, for reasoning of roleplay, metal sheets, electric wires, pipes, cables, and/or whatever else is needed.
Boxes of Materials come in different forms - just so that people aren't making ship hulls from aluminium, or plasma weapons from wood. For example, Hard Box of Materials, Soft Box of Materials and non-metallic Box of Materials.
One BoM is consumed when repairing/building the power in a room.
One BoM is consumed in constructing a section of wall.
One BoM is consumed in filling a room with flooring and ceiling.
One BoM is consumed in building a staircases.
One BoM is consumed in building an elevator shaft, per floor.
One BoM is consumed in constructing the elevator box.
One BoM is consumed for most things. However, some constructions may require special items. For example, a Life Support Unit will also need four Filter Trays - each requiring, you guessed it, one BoM.
When in doubt, PM me.
Raw Materials can be gathered from the earth via mining, drilling or for trace materials in water, you can try filtering it from the water. With filtering from water you can do this by hand (but it is highly ineffective for large production), or you can build a machine to do it for you.
Raw Materials can be thrown into the ship's Mineral Manipulator, which can build Boxes of Materials for you, with enough materials.
For the crafting of specific items as mentioned in Constructing, you need Boxes of Materials to do this, in Engineering.
In short... Raw Materials go into the Mineral Manipulator to make Boxes of Materials, and Boxes of Materials are used for everything else.
There are three types of Boxes of Materials;
Hard Boxes of Materials (HBOM)
Soft Boxes of Materials (SBOM)
Non-Metallic Boxes of Materials (NMBOM)
HBOMs are used for ship hulls, containment units, walls, doors, weapons and anything that needs to be sturdy.
SBOMs are used for things such as power units, setting up power in a room, setting up water systems, air systems, furniture and anything that isn't going to be exposed to extreme temperatures/damage.
NMBOMs aren't going to be very common/useful, but is mostly used for survival, such as leather, leather armours, campfires, torches, bows and other primitive things that are made out of natural resources such as wood and bone.
Base Building is going to be where you're building your home - if you ever decide to settle. You'll need to make sure you've got sources of power, such as water/wind turbines, solar panels and other such things.
You'll then need to make sure you have a water system - and waste system.
And finally, if required, an air system to cool/warm a location, to recycle CO2, or to generally keep air moving to avoid stifling temperatures.
Those are your basics. You then need to wire up all your electrics with cables, get defences up if you think they're necessary and make sure everybody has somewhere to sleep, eat, drink, shit and shower.
There'll be a lot more to it, I'm sure, so knock yourselves out. As usual, message or PM me when in doubt.
122 Kegars an Hour is the Speed of Sound.
107,000,000 Kegars an Hour is just over the Speed of Light (106,930,000,000kph).
1 Kegar (K) is closely measurably to 10.1km
1 Jump Kegar (J-Kegar or JK) is 120,000,000 Kegars an Hour.
The Deimos, on full thrust, can travel about 100 Kegars an hour.
The FTL drive runs at 1 Jump Kegar an hour.
One sector is approximately 80,000,000 Kegar2.
For perspective, the distance between Sol and Neptune is 428,000,000 Kegars.
It takes 40 minutes, on the FTL drive, to travel from one sector to another.
It would take 3.6 hours, on the FTL drive, to travel from Sol to Neptune.
