Re: Invisible Inc LP: Incognita is Judging You
« Reply #30 on: August 11, 2015, 12:40:18 am »

I'm getting a strong "save your cash" vibe from most of the posts here, so that's what I'll do.
But if folk want to share there fantastic experiences of leash saving their bacon, I would love to hear them!
My very first run was saved by killing a Sankaku elite guard and an Akuma drone with another Akuma.  It was a pretty crazy level layout with a ton of overlapping sight lines and a very well guarded exit.  I would have run out of power without leash.  That being said, I don't consider it a particularly great program; it has a narrow niche but within that niche its effective.

So, where were we?  Ah yes, Banks bleeding out.  All but one of the guards move away, the other one stands where he can see Banks out of the corner of his vision so Prism waits for him to go away.
I don't feel much need to go into detail about the rest, since its mostly running away from tagged guards.  The alarm level 4 reinforcement comes to the same elevator Banks was downed next to (of course!) but even though he's not tagged I know he won't catch anyone as long as the team keeps moving.

In the end not only did we run out of power, but rapier's cost went up to FIVE, meaning it costed one power to use even with seed.  This proved to be unfortunate, as the one area we hadn't explored had, well see for yourself:
Fortunately the stealth part of this mission has passed, so we subvert the cameras by... ignoring them and running past.  A single camera can only trigger once per turn, adding a pip to the alarm level and sending an guard to the triggered location.  I actually see sound pings pretty close to us, but not close enough to catch us.  This time.
Spoiler: We out (click to show/hide)

So, I think that was a pretty successful mission.  The level layout was all funneled through a few well watched rooms and the guard elevator was horribly unlucky.  But on the other hand the part of the mission I was actually concerned about was the drones.  There was only one in this building and it was in a totally harmless location.  We made off with all the loot on the level, except for the ~30 credit anarchy bonus Banks could have gotten on a single guard and the med gel we spent.  And, of course, there's now a new member of our team!

Monster has nothing for us currently (although we can still sell to him).  I forgot to take a screenshot of the mission results screen.  We're two hours away from the next day, so no new missions.  Here's the map:
Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)
And here are the agents.  Their gear is all shuffled around from the mission, but I'm basically OK with how things ended up.
Spoiler: Three's a crowd (click to show/hide)

My vote is for the card thing, I hope it is an actual card, rather than a vault, but time is too big of a deal for there to be any real choice here.

Also, I have seen over a thousand moneys pop out of an executive once.

I am going to vote anarchy 5, just to cement my insanity, someone better come along and outvote me with some speed and hacking or else this will be a very... unnecessarily... exciting mission...

Oh, and drones do actually have goodies on them, occasionally. Usually it is just power, but sometimes a juicy chip or something...

Alright, sticking it to the man.  Going to post the next update tomorrow tho.

That mission did not have NEARLY enough of what I hate about Sankaku.  Made them seem almost easy.

...seriously? Oh man, this changes everything:o

On-topic, the card is an executive suite, right? It's probably the only mission that's <12 hours away, and we might get a vault spawn later.

Also, congrats on getting through that mission without any (permanent) fatalities!

Go for the server farm next. We need better hacking desperately.

As far as I know, cards are used in all vaults and occasional cybernetic labs.

Yes, but cards require you to pin a guy or stand near him for five turns, which is bad for Rapier. We can return with better hacking later.

Well, sure, but it would cost us, like, a whole mission to go there and back again. Also, the server mission is in turbo-death-land... I mean, yes, being forced to wait around for a while is bad for rapier, but that only takes one agent, and they are still slightly mobile, and the other agents can run around and spot things to hack at the normal rate. In the server farm they will perpetually rehack our stuff, so even if you scout the place out in a jiffy, you will still need to hack right to the end, much worse for Rapier. Also, I dunno, server farms are nice and all, but you can generally fill your slots with decent programs without it, and we do not exactly have mad funds with which to splurge all over a shop mission.

I dunno, the robots will still need rehacking if they make a problem of themselves... Honestly, I feel as though we got a pretty poor selection of missions, although an early agent is very nice. Hrmmm, out of curiosity, does anyone know if killing the unconscious body of a guard who has uploaded their consciousness will kill their consciousness?

I'll do you one better: Icognita killing the consciousness kills the guard in real life.

Anyway, should have a post done tonight.

Edit: Steam screenshot viewer wasn't cooperating, I accidentally lost the beginnings of my post and I'm sick.  Going to postpone the update even though I do have the content.

I think that's actually detrimental to us, unless this method of killing them doesn't trip their heart monitor. It's still useful to know, though.

It is, technically, possible to disable heart-monitors. usually too much hassle to be worth it, and the cleanup costs(which really make no sense to me, but it is a game, with balance things, and the no-killing rule is a thing to play around, so the bizarreness of paying cleanup costs is just a thing to overlook... Maybe you are sending flowers to their relatives, or maybe there is a life-insurance corp that is several orders of magnitude beyond everyone else and we are paying the homicide/mechacide fee because they are freakishly terrifying. Yes, that is it, death personified manifested and started a life-insurance agency and anyone who wilfully causes a claim to be filed has to pay a fee...) are still there and paying them is a pain, but any electical disabling effect should kill a normal heart-monitor. Although one of the great things about killing is that it is permanent, you can exterminate a whole level and have the run of the place, so alarm levels are less of a factor. I mean, all they are going to do is throw more guards at you...

So yes, you should be able to set off an E.M.P. at their feet, or have the good doctor shank them, and avoid the whole heart-monitor business when you hunt down and kill their mind on the intranet.
