(Let's kill the merchants and take all their stuff! We would start a war before we even arrived!)

War? Their death mystery would never be solved.

Helmaroc readies his crossbow out of sight, in case it is...needed.

Unless we left a survivor, or a message in their blood. War or not, it's worth it.
I probably shouldn't be saying all this out of character...

AS Thikut approaches the wagon with Tiwuthi, she overhears the merchant's demands. She's enraged by his rudeness, and she signals for Helmaroc to sneak around to the flank, then rushes up to Oddom. She leans in close and whispers to him, "let me take care of this. I know how to deal with this type. No one has to die today, but we can't be held up by this garbage. We have to show these humans how dwarves do things."

Tiwuthi steps off the road 5 yards behind the wagon and keeps his distance. He draws his crossbow out from under his cloak.

Oddom whispers back "Of course... though I wouldn't mind if one of their wagon wheels were 'accidentally,' loosened," hiding his smile with great care.

Scene

*The WAGON comes to a stop, and several of the dwarves stand there in the rain unshure what to do. But others take action. HELMAROC deposits his hunting kill in the wagon and quietly pulls out and readies his crossbow. TIWUTHI  remains back about 11 yards from the MERCHANT(and 5 yards from the wagon) and THIKUT approaches the Merchant to have a stern word with him.  Their human wagon train remains far behind, out of sight past a bend in the road through the thick decidious forest.*

TIWUTHI: you are hidden in the cover of a shallow ditch beside the wagon, 5 yards back from the wagon (do you have a crossbow or a repeting crossbow? one does more damage other is faster firing)

HELMAROC:  you add one weeks worth of warthog meat to the wagon  :).you remain partially behind the wagon, and ready your crossbow out of sight, Hiding under the wagon would give you a good shot btw and remain out of sight.

THIKUT: (ithink you mean to confront the guy yes?) You go past the wagon and stop by the oxen when the merchant begins to speak.

MERCHANT: "You are the leader then?, well come on, get those oxen MOVING! ill not be late on account of you peasents."

*the MERCHANT wears a light teal turban and scarf, with a cloak hiding the rest of him, he is on a horse and there is a blade stored in the saddle. The SOLDIER also has a cloak and he is armoured in mail with a pot helm and he has a blade at his side and a round shield at his back.  The dogs feel the tension in the air and scamper about making the horses nervous.*

Thikut slings her crossbow over her shoulder and locks her eyes on those of the arrogant human merchant, and begins to speak in a loud and resonant voice.

"What is the meaning of this interruption? These pilgrims are the charge of the Martyred Bolts of Marching, the proud guild of rangers! I am Thikut of the Wilds, captain of the Path of Bolts, the esteemed third company of rangers, and in the name of our honor and profit we DEMAND that you clear this road of your men and wagons immediately!" Thikut pulls one of the kobold's copper daggers from her belt, and casts it onto the road. "This is the dagger of Semiurang, master thief of the Shadowy Crags of Stabbing," she says, then she throws the other dagger on the road besides the first. "This is the dagger of his lieutenant, Ranagolod. My company struck these fiends down in the battle of Hammer's Rock in 1042, and today that same company stands on these hills," she says as she gestures about, "and they will NOT hold this insult! These pilgrims are vital to the commercial and honorable interests of my guild.

"Though I have little time for such things, I will speak with you privately as you vacate this road to offer you compensation. The friendship of the rangers can be a valuable gift that has more luster than the finest metals and a sharper edge than all blades. But if you spite us, surely you shall learn that our enmity will bring you nothing but woe! Make your decision now, man, but know seeds you sow today on this road shall be your harvest on all roads you shall ride henceforth!"

Helmaroc, expecting the Merchant to be snobby and decline to a compromise, kneels slighty (to steady his xbow) and trains it on the merchant, attempting not to let him (merchant) notice. He waits. (If I don't show up during some commotion, do a head shot)

(Hm, I wanted to wait to see if this would go anywhere before joining, but I guess I waited too long. Any chance that I could join in at some point?)

It's a non-repeating crossbow.

I wondered same thing. Yes you can. Choose/make a character and I'm sure you'll be let in.

I count five players that never show up. Is it a good idea to take on more? What are we going to do about the five essentially inert characters?

Maybe we could all just have double-roles, or the GM could control them.
