explain how? just shoot down everything trying to ascend?

also, here's a thought: we make giant satellites that are designed to make as much debris as humanly possible when triggered with our passcodes, put some proximity sensors around so they can't get disarmed, go "we own this joint or we'll kesslerize it so nobody can ever have it"

would need to be a liiiittle bit above leo, though

Point defences against what? The commies don't have any real effective missile weaponry as far as we know.
Still, if we're going with the pistol we can wait until the next year to see what happens. Maybe they've managed to pull some insane feat of engineering that will bring our proud nation to it's very knees.

lol jk we're probably fine

Aren't we already blockading space? We have the only orbital weapon, and I doubt that anything they put up will have armour against them.

Space mines? Not a bad idea, in principle.

I think they can pass, even if we control both lowers. The Sunrise should get us some great gains. I am not sure where they are focusing at the moment, but we should keep our advantage in any case.

Also *slaps own head*, I forgot to mention that we should probably add a folding stock to our pistol. Increases handling, recoil absorption, and accuracy for little technological effort. Maybe just telescoping, if we want.

I'd go with folding, it'd make the pistol shorter for transport and it's not like the astronauts would ever really need to save those few seconds by firing it collapsed.

That would be my choice too, but telescopic seems more sci-fi. I think you can safely edit that into the Gun Improvements part.

I just hope there's a way to add a folding stock that keeps the stylish design. We need to show off our superior craftmanship at every opportunity. How we have our more refined, quality focused mentality, you know? Better than that socialist "more is better" attitude.

There is no reason we can't embellish the folding stock. Fancy flowers, cartoon characters, and art engraved right in*

*probably a really bad idea to try and implement  :P.

If someone could be more specific about exactly what aspects of the Belle you want to improve, I can write the revision update.

Actually you were right on the expense thing, reading the rules more carefully there's this section:
Quote
Equipment that would be suitable to be Expensive would be jets, as you only ever need several thousand or so of those in order to cover a continent. However, you'll need to go even cheaper if you find a way to make daily launches possible.
Daily launches sound like the thing we want from the only potentially offensive part of our air defence.

So uh, unvote Z-1

Vote Belle improvements (longer barrel, built-in muzzle brake, improved sights, folding stock built in)
It's still gonna be the sleekest handgun around.

And sorry about the lack of gun knowledge, I am a Britbong and therefore have literally zero first-hand experience with guns. All I have is reading.

Yes arguing is good. If we just agreed on whatever was said first chances are nothing productive would get done.

These, suggested by him. Specifically longer barrel, built-in muzzle brake, improved sights, folding stock built in

That works! If there are objections, do so now or forever hold your pizza.

Can we has a pizza?

Pizza=Freedom
Freedom=Capitalism

Therefore, we would be card-carrying commies if we didn't have Pizza at every one of our meetings. And not that communist "Everything On It" pizza. We have the Freedom to choose our own toppings!

...And, now that I think about it, given what we have been told about recoil and the specs of our opponents gun, they seem to have the advantage over ours in non-moon space combat ("Room-clearing") when they have proper bracing. We may have to make another design for different situations.

They really wouldn't be very useful as handheld weapons. They would be useful as vehicle mounted weapons though.

gyrojets would work every time, all the time
But one of the biggest issues with gyrojets is that, too much of the time, they don't work. Failure rates higher than 1% per shot.
