No, we increase the wingspan.

Lasers next?

Lasers are dumb!

We should probably start making a space station to get the resources before our opponents do. Maybe we could add some light missiles for defense? We are probably further along on the whole "Go to Space" thing then our opponents, we just need to put something simple there to have presence.

Lets just launch a satellite. No need to spend so much on a space station.

The enemy already has satellites, we need to one up them if we want to keep it.

The handguns seemed to be more useful then I expected them to be. Apparently, my PDW idea would be bad for this setting. Instead, we should probably use something with a lower-rate of fire, high mass, and small projectile to avoid as much recoil as possible. Thrusters/magnets/etc could potentially be used to help keep them steady in the future. Maybe a revolver design would work better? Just because space revolvers would be cool. A bolt action, pump action, or even lever action would also work if we want to go the carbine route.

We could launch satellites with antisat/capsule missiles.

We'd need to automate them though preferably. Maybe have them use a similar targeting system that we use for our missiles? Ground radar panting? Hell, could have them make a network to relay targets via comm sats.

We should research automated targeting systems for this project. Could throw solar power onto the sats.

Resupply would be an issue.

Actually. Lasers would be great for this. Missiles would be good for area denial though.

We just failed to launch a jet with more then standard pay load, trying to launch a satellite with any significant firepower is doomed to fail. Automating them might work, but that sounds a bit far off. We ain't exactly about to send an army of robots at our enemies with our current technology. It would probably be best to rely on our (quite skilled) cosmonauts, having a (even lightly) armed space station lets us defeat our enemies in a reliable, obtainable way.

Maybe modify the missiles we have to be able to hit capsule sized stuff in Low Earth Orbit?

We can reliably get a small number of small payloads into orbit, why not set up those commutations satellites I talked about?

The primary new tech here is very basic automation and LEO to surface radio.

Or a better needle?

Basically just adding more fuel and compensating the design a bit.  I would prefer developing a new mix with the same mass but more energy but I doubt we can do that now.

We should stick solar panels on all our sats.

Also maybe have them have built in antitampering countermeasures? Explode if they lose power?

Explosives are heavy!  Anything in LEO will fall back eventually anyway.

Exactly. We can have them deorbit onto the americas.

We seem to have a lot more resources this turn... 4 ore 3 chemicals if my calculations are correct.

How about a surface to orbit missile.  It would not need to achieve an actual orbit if it just hits the target halfway through it's decent.

Alternatively we could have a solar concentrator satellite network that overheats enemies by focusing sunlight from a dozen points all on one.

Some kind of moon armor?

Heat dispersal is a serious issue in space. If we can make a directed heat laser, we can fry pretty much anybody in a ship.
