I'd think you need to use BYTOKEN:TAIL, rather than BYTYPE:TAIL. I've never heard of a token in the body_default.txt file named [TAIL], but you salamander obviously does have a tail.

I'll be entering. Saw this thread and was very interested. But I haven't created a creature before so I'm taking the day to look at the wiki. The tokens and flags were straight forward enough and I caught on to how to make a creature quickly. However, what I don't know enough about is how combat works and how severely [DAMBLOCK] and [SIZE] effect it. I'm very interested in size in fact. If anyone has a link explaining how the different flags effect combat that would be great!

It's easiest to figure out what [DAMBLOCK] and [SIZE] do by playing around with them,  .

From my experiments:
[SIZE] increases strength and defense.
[DAMBLOCK] increases defense.

It seems like [SIZE] and [DAMBLOCK] increase defense by about the same amount, so I'd say that if the sum of your SIZE and DAMBLOCK are the close to those of the other creatures, you'll block about the same as they do.

[SIZE] makes a very big difference in strength.  With sizes from 15-20, attack strengths of 2-5 work well (against other megabeasts, slaughters normal creatures).

While it's certainly overpowered, I just noticed a fatal flaw in the UFO's design (as presented on page 1):  Its FIXED_TEMP is substantially higher than its HEATDAM_POINT.  If you leave it alone long enough, it should mysteriously die.

When I was testing, I also had problems with the megabeasts starving and dehydrating while caged, .

It seems that FIXED_TEMP and HOME_OTHERM have absolutely no effect on anything but yourself in 38c, which must be a bug.  I did fix the UFO to not kill itself though, when I added it, so it doesn't just catch on fire and die instantly,  .

Or you could make the name more generic. Viking halberdier doesn't imply gender. Greiger implies gender, at least to those who know you. Half-dragon warrior doesn't imply gender.

okay, I have never modded anything, nor do I plan on learning how to do this, so instead, I will ask your assistance to get this right

Akroma's Chimera  (can the name even include a ' ?)

It should have 1 normal dwarven head (including all dwarven abilities, if possible), as well as 1 dwarven arm and a dwarven upper torso.

Added to this come 3 Hydra heads, but if possible, only 2 of them come with necks, the middle one grows on a second normal dwarven arm instead of a hand.

This head's bite will be it's main attack, and should have some serious attack power, at least enough to catch up with the other bay12 mega beasts.
It should be able to equip weapons to the normal arm, it being it's second type of attack (probably only with a fist though, except if you can make it come with a weapon)

Instead of two legs, it should have some sort of snake like abdomen, think Naga.
If possible, make it regenerate wounds like the bronze collosus does.

Damblock should not be too extreme, just think Hydra.
If it is possible to make it spawn with a weapon, it should be able to spawn with armor too, so that should do the trick. If that isn't possible, just a little above average hydra, to compensate

I like the idea of a vid too but just as an addition to a battlelog.  

With a battlelog you get most of the relevant info but you don't know locations.  Something could be preventing an opponent from standing up or a creature could get knocked out and it won't have any indication in the (dwarf mode)battlelog.

But at the same time with only a vid you don't know how much damage is being done, who's taking hits, that kinda thing. You just see a big pile of letters a few exponent 2s go flying then they all get red backgrounds.  Sure most of us are excellent at translating that, but without being able to manipulate the look and creature view cursors ourselves the info is limited.
