No need for that. Approach them, and yell to stop. There will be no fighting in line. If they do not comply, take them into custody. Don't point the rifle at them, but be ready to club them with it if needed.

Tell our friend to stay and watch for trouble. Then go up and point at them to stop fighting and go to the back of the line or else we'll take them into custody.

"Trouble in Astroska is not welcomed."

"Cover me." you say to the other guard, and walk up to the scene. You put up your best authoritarian voice.

"You two," you point to the two men. "Trouble in Arstotzka is not welcomed. You two will go to the back of the line or you will be detained." They stop pushing each other for a moment, and one seems to want to say something.

He hesitates for a moment, and then brings up the courage. "It's not our fault your checkpoint is so inefficient. I've been waiting since yesterday just to get to this point in the line, and this man thought that he could just walk up to me! How could you not notice that?" he says, growing louder.

"I could be very efficient in detaining both of you. Would you like to see?

Of course not, shut up and wait your turn. Good things happen to patient people. Glory to Arstotzka."

Were not going to get pushed around by some chump..GLORY TO ARTOSTKA.

That shuts the man up. He stops talking, and you lead the two men back down the line. As you walk down the line, people begin to make comments on the checkpoint. The further down the line you go, the worse they get. About three quarters of the way down the line, people are outright insulting you. A man steps out of the line, and yells a curse word into your face, sending spit all over you. The two men you were escorting back up, obviously now frightened of your response.

Raise our rifle, aim at him, and calmly say, "You just assaulted an Arstotzkans official. You are being detained. Come with me." If he complies, walk him back to the detainment block. If not, rifle butt, pull him out of line, and get backup.

You put on a calm, but demanding face. You raise your rifle. Color drains from the man's face, and he takes a step back.

"Handkerchief, now." you say, calmly. His hands crawl around his pockets rapidly as he desperately takes out his handkerchief and gives it to you. You wipe your face off slowly, and throw the handkerchief back at him. You raise the rifle again. "You have just assaulted an Arstotzkan official. You are being detained, come with me." you say, assertively.

He looks at a woman near him, and she cries out. "Please sir, he didn't mean it! We just try to get to Arstotzka because is the great land! We cannot survive in Kolechia!" she begins sobbing uncontrollably into the man's shoulder.

"Please sir, I am sorry. I will do anything. Please do not separate me from my wife." he pleads to the barrel of your rifle.

"You have assaulted an Arstotzkan official. Come with me or I will use force." Getting a detain on our record this early will look good, and I think we get a bonus for it. Plus, we are loyal! And don't want to be caught taking bribes..

Maybe we should talk to the border operators about opening up more checkpoints to let people through. At least tell them to up their staff.
