((You're about to enter what I like to call "Free RP time," and if it works well enough here, we'll likely be using it later as well. It exists because I, the GM, will not be available all the time, and I've tried to think of something to allow you guys to continue doing what you do in my absence. And here, I hope, is the solution. While Free RP Time is in effect, what you discover in an area is up to you guys, but note that it is fluff only. You won't be finding gold, or weapons, but if you want to run into a dusty old ring lying on the ground by a fountain, and one of you gives it to another in some sort of heartwarming cliche bonding scene, go ahead. If you're looking through books in a library, you can run into an old bit of notation or the journal of someone who used to live in the area. There are two key things to note: You are still only in control of one character. NPCs can't get involved in your shenanigans unless I'm around, and It has to be logical, reasonable, and unlikely to conflict with something I've got planned. Take the journal in the library for example. If it's 5 months old and belongs to the Lady, obviously that's not allowed, if it's 5 years old, that's still cutting it a bit close to recent history, but if it's 100 years old? Go ahead. Just make sure it doesn't comment on anything major. The point of this is to allow you to do cool, neat stuff, like one of you falling down cracked and dusty old well, and one of you has to pull the other up, or you find a silver ring at the bottom with "To my dearest"written on it.
This explanation kinda sucks so I'll be writing another up at some point and putting it in the OOC thread. I'll note the main goal I have with this is giving the players more agency, something that seems to be sadly lacking a lot of the time in FEF games. Even if it isn't with the overall plot quite yet, it will hopefully allow for some small and poignant touches, purely player made.))
